MNN: TO SAVE OUR MOTHER

mnnlogo1TO SAVE OUR MOTHER

MNN.  Dec. 30, 2012.
Our Mother Earth is instructing us to protect her from corporate Canada’s murder and rape.
The “Idle No More” movement to stop Omnibus Bill C-45 is gaining worldwide momentum.  They too are listening to our Mother.

earthCanada’s chief financial officer, Jim Flaherty and CEO Prime Minister ‘Pudge” Harper have illegally signed the equivalent of the “Enabling Act” of 1933 that brought Hitler to power. [Below].

enazblingC-45 removes indigenous people and takes our land and resources to establish a dictatorship of the bankers.  Parliament provides the illusion of freedom to the masses.  Their band councils in our communities are being staffed or trained by “Nazi” agents. Distress and crisis are being created to declare martial law.  Arrests, torture and death are here.  Our concentration camps called reserves are under strict surveillance and control [Indian agents].

Non-Natives can steal our land through a legislated voting fraud set up by this illegal bill.  Funds for education, health and other essential services will be dissolved.  Everything is being transferred to provinces that have no responsibility for us.  Our education funds will go to non-native schools to assimilate and brainwash our children.

Our constant marches and flash mobs are alarming Harper’s banker bosses in the City of London.

We are all victims. When the masses turn their backs on the genocide, they are complicit in it.  Theresa Spence of Attawapiskat has been driven to this point of desperation where she may soon die of hunger. She could ask the Indian Act band councils to step down and forego their obedience to their colonial masters, or be banished from our communities to live with their corporate puppeteers.

These well paid traitors and liars are helping our enemies try to tear us apart. Close them down!  Let our people go! Our law provides that their voices and that of their children are never to be heard from again.  As Chief Seattle said in 1896, “Man did not weave the web of life, is but a mere strand.  Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself”.

The real revolution is spirit evolution.  To start it we must respect each other, other nations and all creation to bring peace and harmony to us and the world.

Canada controls our stolen funds.  We won’t take up arms.  Flash mobs can appear on highways, railways, rivers, canals, at the headquarters of the multinational corporations that steal our natural gas, oil, minerals, logging and creates infrastructures to rape our Mother.

As Karonhiaktajeh said, “People with fighting spirit shall not become casualties of psychological warfare”.

When the Men declare martial law in our communities, our traditional fire will be rekindled.  The Great Law of Peace is our natural way.  Not artificial like banks and corporations.  We will be equal in voice and authority, to defend every member nation. Our Mother’s resources shall be shared fairly.  The foreign corporation of Canada will be dissolved and everything will be returned to us.

The deplorable inhuman conditions in our communities will be removed.  May the superior, dedicated and good minds come forward.  If they don’t standup, who will?  Our supporters will not be inconvenienced.  We need you.

We will stand the tree back up for all to see, that true peace still exists here. There will be one more war on Great Turtle Island, the people against the bankers.  No children will be bombed.  The attack of the predator bankers will be repelled.

homelandOur Mother is pushing us to rise up.  We defend and thank her.  Harper, our death knell can never be sounded.

Jimi Hendrix predicted Earth changing times in the song, “Up from the Skies”:  “So where do I purchase my ticket.  I’d just like to have a ringside seat.  I wanna know about the new Mother Earth.  I want to hear and see everything.  I want to hear and see everything.  I want to hear and see everything.  Yeah!”

Sky is Not Falling

Sky is Not Falling

MNN.  Jan. 1, 2012.  No.  The world is not coming to an end.  It’s continuing.  We’re been lead to think that we are heading into a trap to be devoured if we don’t submit.  Terrorized people are afraid to take action.

The dishonorable gang of inbred elites try to run the world.  The upper middle class, their hired guns, have been replaced by machines.  They’re leaving Great Turtle Island.

The people of color are staying.

Republican presidential candidate, Newt Gingrich, boasted, “You don’t have to become a drug dealer, pimp or a prostitute when you can wash our bathroom toilets and floors”.  [Is he referring to his filthy mouth?]

Some colonists want to join the Indigenous.   They know it’s all our land, water, air and resources.   Are they ready to live under the rules of nature?

They could follow the white roots to the source.  If their mind is clean and they agree to obey the laws of the Rotinoshonnionwe, they can take shelter beneath the tree of the long leaves.

The bankers are the pirates.  They invented the Maritime Admiralty Legal system to settle business disputes around the world.  They incorporated states like the US and Canada and illegally put them on Indigenous lands.  People who signed on became their property.  Their official flags can only be placed on buildings, not on Great Turtle Island, which was never surrendered.

The Haldimand Proclamation 1784 is unique.  A track within the vast Haudenosaunee Territory was set aside as a British Protectorate forever for the Mohawks.  Their agents of the crown [federal, provincial, municipal, etc.] that breach their supreme law are guilty of high treason.  The Military Court can punish them by firing squad or hanging.   Encroachers beware!

The bankers fear becoming obsolete should an infinite  free fuel be found.  They are blinding us by warfare.  Their worst is coming as they approach their death throws.

When they say peace, they really mean war.  Peace is uncompromising truth.  Nature is real and true.  They hope everybody is unnatural like them.

Their link to the world is through technology, while they try to disconnect us from the natural world.

Their corporations create supermen, that push the dooms day clock and threaten nuclear war.

The world will survive.  The bankers can’t buy mother earth.

They tried to turn Great Turtle Island into a prison where life and the environment are not precious.   For 500 years we’ve been penned up by these maniacs.  Now they are going, leaving behind our land and life.

Here’s an idea!  The head rulers can sit in a big room inside a bunker.  The walls are covered with hundreds of televisions.  They hold remotes and watch everything that’s going on.  They click, kill and neutralize those who might undo their position and power.

We let them think they are all powerful, while we go about our lives and ignore them.  They can flick all they want.  “Change the channel, honey!”  We’re in charge of the cable and what they seeing!

Their greatest fear is, “They will be cast down from whence they came for all eternity”.

They need to turn money into more money and to continue their illusion.

As Bob Dylan sang in 1963 “Masters of War”:  “Let me ask you one question, is your money that good?  Could it buy you forgiveness, do you think that it could?  I think you will find when your death takes its toll, all the money made will never buy back your soul”.

Their treasure has no real value.  Mother Earth and the great natural power are the dictators.

LONG AGO, BEFORE COLONIAL BORDERS

LONG AGO, BEFORE COLONIAL BORDERS

MNN. October 10, 2010. During the French and Indian Wars in the 1750s, the invaders came up against the Mohawk “Keepers of the Eastern Door” who told them to go home. In order to occupy land the legal occupants had to be killed off. The colonists started a genocide campaign beginning with the Mohawks.

As a story goes, once upon a time in present day New York State, a French troop came across a lone Mohawk Warrior standing on top of a cliff waving at them. The troop commander told three of his men, “Go up and kill him’.

They climbed up. Behind the bushes a big fight broke out. The commander waited. They never returned. Eventually the Mohawk Warrior appeared on top of the mountain and waved to the troops below. Aghast, the commander ordered another 10 soldiers to, “Kill him once and for all”.

They went up. Another noisy fight ensued. None returned. Once again, the Mohawk Warrior stood on top and waved to them with a big smile.

Finally the commander ordered the rest of his troops to go up and “Finish him off”, to return and tell him what happened.

Another huge fight took place with lots of yelling and screaming. This time one badly wounded man came down the hill. “What happened?” asked the commander.

The soldier said, “That Warrior wasn’t alone. He had a Mohawk woman behind him!” and then passed out. The Mohawk Warrior stood at the top of the cliff and waved at them to leave.

Indigenous women continue to be the foundation of our communities. Presently 550 have disappeared without a trace. Canada refuses to investigate, callously calling us “sexual objects” and “street workers”.

Our women are not protected by police, politicians and upper levels of society for a reason. Possibly these girls have too much information on the underbelly of the ruling class and their fascination with abusing children, particularly Indigenous.

It seems the Canada Border Services Agents CBSA and law enforcement want to arrest and criminalize our men who protect our women and children.

Border guards leer at Mohawk girls and our young men. Perverted Border guards are known to put their hands in the pants of the adolescent boys and grab their genitals. Cavity searches are going to become common to intimidate and psychologically subjugate people.

A British military man once remarked: Mohawk men allow themselves to be dragged around by their women, but in no way did it emasculate them. In fact, they became great warriors.

We were the canary in the mine. The behavior that the indigenous people have withstood for centuries is now going to become mainstream for everyone.

ARCTIC GRAB – SOMETHING ROTTEN IN DENMARK, NORWAY, RUSSIA, US, CANADA …

ARCTIC GRAB
– SOMETHING ROTTEN IN DENMARK, NORWAY, RUSSIA, US, CANADA MNN.Aug. 5 09. More colonial subterfuge! Canada, US, Russia, Norway, Denmark and other imperialist entities are trying to steal the Indigenous area of northern Great Turtle Island. Climate change is causing the ice to recede. They all want to cart away our minerals, oil and gas. Ruskie and US subs have surfaced in the far north.Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is standing around the North Pole, waving his arms and screaming, “I was the first crook here. So it’s all mine, mine, mine!” He wants the true inhabitants, the Inuit, to live there year round to assert Indigenous sovereignty. They can hold back the other foreigners while he and his friends gouge out the riches. To him Canada is the only imperialist that can rob us as it’s under the usurpation of the colony of Canada!

On January 28, 2006, the Women Title Holders of the Kanion’ke:haka issued a public notice of objection to this attempted seizure of our inherent right to the “Arctic Region” by these foreign states, corporations, “outsiders” and non-Indigenous interests. The Inuit, our family, are the natural custodians of this area which belongs to our unborn generations.

According to Wampum 44 of the Kaianereh’ko:wa, the Ongwehonwe Women Title Holders are the “progenitors of the soil” of Great Turtle Island. We are the Caretakers of the land, water and air. We told these capitalist blood suckers to stay away, that they have no business here.

Self-determination is a universal human right. The denial of a nation’s exis¬tence constitutes genocide, according to the many international covenants these states have pledged to uphold. Modern international law protects small peoples from incursions by aggressive states who use military and economic force to impose their will. Their turf war over our territory, waters and resources violates our customs, practices, occupation and rights.

We cannot surrender our birthright. This land is who we are. The Western Sahara decision provides that a territory cannot be incorporated in another state without the informed consent of the majority of its people. This was not done because they know that we will never agree to give up our identity.

No one made a treaty of cession with us to enter our Arctic waters and territory.

International, federal, state and provincial entities cannot violate international law and the rule of law by superseding our jurisdiction over territory that we never surrendered.

Colonialism is illegal. Past agreements and treaties only allowed foreigners to live peacefully on our land.

Any foreigner wishing to enter our territory must deal with us through nation-to-nation protocol. No foreign entity and their corporate bodies and associated or visitor such as the colony of Canada can invite outsiders onto our territory or sell off our resources.

In Canada we took an action in the Supreme Court of Canada – Kanion’ke:haka Kaianereh’ko:wa Kanon’ses:neh v. Attorney General of Canada and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario, Court File: 05-CV-030785.

We brought this constitutional jurisdiction issue before the U.S. Supreme Court. See No. 05-165: 2005. In The Supreme Court of the United States In re Kanion’ke:haka Kaianereh’ko:wa Kanon’ses:neh, Non-party, Petitioner/Movant/Appellant, The Canadian St. Regis Band of Mohawk Indians, Plaintiffs, Respondents, v. The State of New York, Defendants, Respondents. Petition for Writs of Certiorari and Quo Warranto with Prohibition and Mandamus in Aid to Prevent Genocide. Rules 17.1 and 20.1.

There are two camps: our enemy and ourselves. The increasing dependence of international capitalists on neo-colonial theft makes their existence and future uncertain. They are facing serious economic and social difficulties making them desperate. Some of the symptoms are rising prices, balance of payments problems, unemployment and social unrest. Their use of more violence, armed force and coercion indicates their panic and decline in their power.

The masses are resisting the might is right strategy. The capitalists are finding themselves in an unhealthy position. We must keep confronting them with the truth, which they’re saying is unpeaceful and annoying to them.

The Arctic has become unlivable due to the environmental destruction caused by the imperialists. The Inuit have the same duties to care for our mother, Great Turtle Island. We are brothers and sisters. We follow your issues and feel all the stresses that you are going through. We hope you won’t allow yourselves to be used by any of these foreign invaders. They are trying to exploit you and nothing good will come of it.

REAL ALGONQUINS DO EXIST AT BARRIERE LAKE:

REAL ALGONQUINS DO EXIST AT BARRIERE LAKE:

MNN REGRETS MISINFORMATION POSTED ON OCTOBER 12, 2008

MNN. Dec. 16, 2008. Yes, Virginia, there are real Algonquins. Created the natural way. Without any help from Canada’s Indian Affairs or their bureaucratic “Svengali”, Mother Joan Holmes. The Algonquins of Barriere Lake in northern Quebec have lived in the area now known as “LaVerendrye Park” since time immemorial, long before colonial Quebec or Canada existed. It’s a four hour drive north from Ottawa. They’ve taken care of the land so that the forest and water are pristine. Plenty of minerals lie beneath that they don’t want to disturb. Of course, the multinational corporations want to deforest the land, take out the fresh water and then dig for the minerals.

Two opportunists have been hanging around them for over 20 years, Russell “Potato Bug” Diabo from Kahnawake and David “Dutiful-Dog” Nahwegabow from White Fish Bay. They’ve hooked up with Jean Maurice “Poncho” Matchewan and his gang who are willing to play ball with corporations like Domtar, Tembec and AbitibiBowater who want to deforest and exploit the land. Why in a park?

Around 1993 Diabo and Nahwegabow, with the help of businesses and environmental groups, set up the “Forest Stewardship Council” FSC in Bonn Germany. FSC is an Orwellian twist to the real “double dealing” that some so-called environmental protection groups are fronting. The original Indigenous owners of the world’s forests have not been informed or consulted about this. FSC “is a non-profit organization that sets global standards for responsible forestry”. 80% of their revenue comes from governments, private foundations, corporations and non-governmental organizations, some associated with the United Nations. Diabo and Nahwegabow have both sat on the boards of FSC at the international and Canadian levels. Diabo was recently in Toronto promoting FSC.

FSC tries to provide accreditation worldwide as to which Indigenous lands can be deforested by the corporations. According to the Indigenous of Clayoquot Sound British Columbia, “it’s a fraudulent scam to allow marketing of old growth forests around the world”. [See Link #1 at end of this article] [See Link #2 for a list of their latest certifications]. It is a scheme that has perverted the efforts of such well known environmental activists as the Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, World Wildlife Fund, David Suzuki Foundation, Green Peace, the Pembina Institute, Ivey Foundation, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Rainforest Alliance, Ducks Unlimited, Global Forest Watch Canada, National Environment Trust, Environmental Defence Canada and others. Instead of promoting environmental protection, it looks like they are now lending their support, knowingly or unknowingly, to those who would exploit and pollute the environment for private profit.

The idea is that any wood or wood products sold worldwide will need FSC approval, or else! the scheme allows Rona, Home Depot, Ikea and many others to present themselves as “green” companies. FSC promotes a concept of sustainability. On inspection, it turns out that after divesting us of our trusteeship and control of our lands and forests, the corporations then set up “tree farms”. Who owns them? The companies, of course! The Indigenous people are left with nothing.

At Barriere Lake Indian Affairs took over administration and placed the Algonquins under the third party management of PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Just like Kanehsatake and Burnt Church! Divisions in the community were fomented. Then Indian Affairs, that holds the purse strings, incorporated the group and started to treat them like a business enterprise.

As a founding member of FSC Diabo is able to help the corporations find the best forests to get FSC accreditation anywhere in the world. The companies then go to the respective governments and get the permit to deforest the designated area. Diabo also works with members of the local band council or Indigenous group to “help” them sign illegal “Trilateral Agreements” with the province, federal government or colonial entity. The local Indigenous collaborators who sign on get very little from the deal. Their people end up having to leave their hunting, fishing and trap lines to get away from deforestation and subsequent flooding. As far as we can tell, Nahwegabow, the lawyer, and Diabo, the House Mohawk, seem to pull the strings and set up this scheme.

Jean Maurice “Poncho” Matchewan and his gang at Barriere Lake signed the Trilateral Agreement with Quebec and Canada. “Poncho”, as he is known up there, is a cynical man. He accepted power and money in exchange for compromising his people. The traditional Algonquins did not go along with him. After all, it’s their forest, their soil, their homeland and their livlihood. They remain sovereign, independent and never became Canadians. Their territory remains unsurrendered and never part of any treaty. In exchange for signing away all their territory the Algonquins have been promised some firewood, chump change and no say.

When opposition started openly brewing, Indian Affairs cut off a lot of programs to the real Algonquins – phones, hydro, water, heating oil, education and social programs and health care. The whole works! All gone! When Matchewan was subsequently removed by the people, he pulled the plug on the only generator in the community. The people were denied basic human rights and amenities and coerced into tying in social services as part of the big “deal” with the corporations, Canada and Quebec.

Why should Algonquins be reduced to refugees on their own land? The Algonquins have had to go into the bush to trap and fish to feed their families in one of the coldest winters in recent history. They are living in improperly-heated over-crowded homes that are potential fire traps. Indian affairs parachuted in four new people to “represent” the Algonquins along with a new constitution and electoral code. This was supposedly put in place with the consent of respected elders. The elders say their signatures were forged. Isn’t this an old colonial trick? In keeping with international law, agreements like this must be signed in public before the whole community which must completely understand and consent to the terms.

Poncho’s gang is now accusing Quebec and Canada of violating the Trilateral Agreement by not giving them their share of the profits. It looks like the road blocks of Highway 117 on October 6, 2008 were staged and video taped for worldwide distribution. This is where MNN got hooked in. It was incredible to see such a raw display of force against women and children. People have been made desperate. Some were paid $20 to $50 to go out on the highway and hold placards for these protests. They were forced by threats of violence and seizure of personal assets to take part. The Quebec Police SQ was more than willing to engage in brutality. They pepper sprayed and tear gassed small children and hit the women with batons.

Russell Diabo and others from Poncho’s faction are now touring Haudenosaunee and other Ongwehonwe communities trying to lure our youth to Barriere Lake to stand on the “front lines”. This plays right into the hands of those who are trying to defame the Mohawks and find an excuse to implement martial law against us.

Barriere Lake is part of the “North American Water Plan” that started in 1933 (the same year that Trenton Air Force base was built) affecting 36 Indigenous Nations. It’s a short sighted three pronged action: 1. take out the trees; 2. take out the minerals; and 3. dam and divert the rivers through aqueducts to the U.S. Remove those who are in the way. There are no signs of a back up-plan to clean up the environmental damage.

The corporate elites plan to block the St. Lawrence River and James Bay. The entire Great Lakes watershed will be turned into one big lake. This will be powered by nuclear reactor pumping stations. This appears to be one of the reasons for merging of Canadian, U.S. and Mexican military and law enforcement under the North American Union NAU and the Security and Prosperity Plan SPP.

An Algonquin elder told MNN he openly opposed their schemes. He and others that were labeled as “dissidents” have been driven from Barriere Lake under a policy of “banishment”.

Around the same time in April 2008 Ontario and Quebec signed a deal for Quebec to sell power to Ontario from hydro plants to be built on Algonquin land. Domtar also signed with Quebec to log and flood Kokomville, an Algonquin community. Quebec doesn’t believe the people living there should benefit from the resources they extracted for the benefit of foreign industries. A Domtar executive sits on the FSC Canada board. Talk about conflict of interest!

The Montreal supporters “No One Is Illegal” have been posting stories, raising money and getting support for the Pancho Matchewan group. sarita@resist.ca

Huge tensions surround this situation. The current economic melt down should lead to creating a sustainable economy and sharing the world’s resources fairly. We Indigenous people have always questioned why we are forced to subsidize foreign companies who extract profits from our resources and leave us with a mess. The province of Newfoundland just stripped the rights and assets of U.S. company AbitibiBowater Inc. They say they’re tired of seeing “their” [Indigenous] resources exploited with no return for the people! The Forest Products Association of Canada is now pushing Canada to extend a “work sharing program” that will turn unemployment insurance recipients into low cost slave labor so the multinational corporations can keep getting the high profits demanded by their greed. Barriere Lake Algonquins, you better dig in and find out what’s going on. [Oh! It’s beginning to look a lot like Sharbot Lake, everywhere you go – same people, same tactics!]

ROTINO’SHONNI:ONWE FILE OBJECTION AGAINST SUPER HIGHWAY 30

“COLONIAL OPPORTUNISTS, WATCH OUT!”
KAHNAWAKE WOMEN TITLE HOLDERS OF THE ROTINO’SHONNI:ONWE FILE OBJECTION AGAINST SUPER HIGHWAY 30

MNN. Aug. 17, 2008. Someone is trying to plow under the Mohawks and our history. The three clans each had their villages around a river that bore the name of their clan. Bear River is Mount Royal which is now Montreal; Wolf River is Chateauguay to the west of Kahnawake; and Turtle River is St. Constant-Laprairie-Candiac to the east of Kahnawake. The fields contain dozens of Mohawk village and burial sites.

Quebec is building a mega highway through the territory of the Iroquois Confederacy known as the protectors of the “Eastern Door” of Turtle Island. The territory has never been surrendered. Yet the Quebec government is handing out permits to companies to build on our land without our consent. These companies use our land as collateral to raise money from the public, which is criminal fraud.

To stop a further invasion and breakdown of our community, the Women Title Holders of the Rotino’shonni:onwe [the voice of the people] served a “Notice of Objection” on Canada, Quebec, the colonially established Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and their agents.

The colonial band council headed by Mike Delisle [communications@mck.ca] has supported the super highway through the middle of Kahnawake in exchange for some land and “other undisclosed considerations” citing he had made a “gentlemen’s agreement”. Nothing is in writing. It looks like a business partnership between him and Quebec. The people erected a large sign on the proposed route stating “Mohawk Territory – No Trespassing”. The Quebec Police have torn it down. Our people have gone out to the site to put it back up. The farmers of St-Constant have shown strong support for our cause. “Farmers oppose Hwy. 30 expansion” by Stefan Christoffhttp://www.hour.ca/news/news.aspx?iIDArticle=15304

NOTICE OF OBJECTION – August 17, 2008
TO ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTION OF “HIGHWAY 30” AND TRESPASSING
IN KAHNAWAKE OF MOHAWK TERRITORY
BY COLONIAL OPPORTUNISTS OF CANADA AND QUEBEC

Burial sites being desecrated and natural waterways being diverted

FROM: The Kanion’ke:haka/Mohawk Nation of the of the Rotino’shonni:onwe [Iroquois].

OBJECTION: To the development of Highway 30 through the territory of the northern protectors of the Iroquois Confederacy, the Kanion’ke:haka [Mohawk], who are the “Keepers of the Eastern Door”. The entity known as “ Quebec ” is attempting to illegally build Highway 30 through the ancient community of Kahnawake. Old villages, burial sites and waterways are being destroyed or diverted. This development violates the Two Row Wampum, the Kaianereh’ko:wa [the Rotino’shonni:onwe constitution] and international law as it does not have the fully informed consent of the Kanion’ke:haka. The construction permits issued by the government of Quebec are illegal. Our land cannot be alienated. Quebec is encroaching on unsurrendered Kanion’ke:haka territory and using it as collateral to raise money to fund their businesses. This constitutes fraud. It will encourage a further invasion and breakdown of our solitary community for the benefit of a few.

TO: The colonial entities that are carrying on illegal activities, known as:
- “Canada”;
- “Quebec government”;
- Chenail Construction Brinco Quarry and others;
- “Mohawk Council of Kahnawake”; and
- Any and all their agents are all squatting on our territory.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake who gave permission to Quebec is a “band council”, a colonial entity that is set up by the colonial entity known as “Canada”. Its members have become Canadian citizens of “Indian” ancestry”. They have no legal right to make any decisions on our unceded territory. Mike Delisle Jr., the band council chief, cannot make a “personal decision” or “gentleman’s agreement” [!] to make secret deals or override the voice of the people. These foreign corporate franchises can never have title to or interest in our land;

RE: The attempt to illegally develop Highway 30 through the Kanion’ke:haka territory on the portion known as “Kahnawake” and surrounding settlements known as “St. Constant”, “Delson” and “Candiac”. This usurpation of our territory does not have the fully informed consent of the Kanion’ke:haka, violating international law.

BASIS OF ACTION: WAMPUM 44 OF THE GREAT LAW OF PEACE, KAIANEREH’KO:WA

According to Wampum 44 of the Kaianereh’ko:wa, the Great Law of Peace, we, the Kohtihon’tia:kwenio – Women Title Holders – are the caretakers of the land, water and air of “Onowaregeh” [Turtle Island]; and as trustees, our obligation is to preserve and protect the land for the future generations.

a)WHEREAS the foreign invaders cannot determine our identity. We are Haudenosaunee, Six Nations of Onowaregeh. According to the Two Row Wampum Agreement, it is illegal for colonial institutions like Canada, Quebec, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and their agents to violate internationally recognized principles of fundamental justice;

b)WHEREAS the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People has been adopted by a majority of 144 states; international law has affirmed that colonialism is dead, that all Indigenous peoples are to be treated as equals to all other peoples; and we accordingly claim our right to the full enjoyment as collectives and as individuals to all the human rights and fundamental freedoms that have been recognized in the Charter of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and international law, including the right to self-determination and self-government without being subjected to forced assimilation or destruction of ourselves and our culture.

c)WHEREAS respect for our rights is entrenched in the constitution of Canada, the British North America Act, Sections 109 and 132;

d)WHEREAS the Charter of the United Nations has been signed by its members to resolve differences peacefully without using force. According to the July 7th 2008 decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal, the indigenous people have a right to freedom of speech and to demonstrate to protect our lands without hindrance;

e)WHEREAS Canada has ascribed to the internationally recognized standards for respecting political rights of the People as set out in the international Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Convention on the Prevention of Genocide, United Nations Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and other international legal instruments;

f)WHEREAS General Assembly Resolution 1541 (XV) requires the informed consent of the people before they are included in another state; and the international Court of Justice affirmed this Resolution in the Western Sahara case; and the Indigenous people never consented to be part of Canada;

g)WHEREAS Canada must abide by the international law principles that there can be no arbitrary encroachment on Indigenous peoples; ignoring the true Indigenous people is illegal; independent Indigenous peoples’ rights must be respected and heeded; and our perspectives on the issues must not be ignored. Canada cannot legally deal with its band council system or other colonial entities on behalf of the true Indigenous People. We are independent sovereign people who must be dealt with as a nation.

h)WHEREAS the Kanion’ke:haka have a constitution. We cannot be governed by foreign laws that we have always resisted and we will continue to resist the usurpation of our territory and resources;

i)WHEREAS states must provide redress for violations of our rights through effective mechanisms; we hereby notify Canada, Quebec, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and all their agents that their attempt to build Highway 30 on the said part of our territory is unlawful and will be resisted. They must deal with the Women Title Holders who are the lawful owners of the territory through diplomatic relations.

WE, THE KOHTIHON’TIA:KWENIO OF THE ROTINO’SHONNI:ONWE SEEK TO INFORM YOU THAT THIS IS FULL AND FAIR NOTICE THAT:

Canada, Quebec, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and other colonial agents must cease and desist their attempts to violate our authority by building Highway 30; that they must deal with us as a nation as required under both our law and international law; that any individual or foreign entity wishing to discuss any issues between us must provide full information through the proper diplomatic channel, which is the Governor General of Canada, who has a duty to inform us.

We, the Kohtihon’tia:kwenio, brought this matter to the attention of Canada in an action in the Supreme Court of Canada – Kanion’ke:haka Kaianereh’ko:wa Kanon’sesneh v. Attorney General of Canada and her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario, Court File: 05-CV-030785. This case in effect acknowledged that Canada has no authority over us and our territory. We remain independent and sovereign.

FOR THE ABOVE REASONS, WE, THE KOHTIHON’TIA:KWENIO OF THE ROTINO’SHONNI:ONWE – IN ORDER TO PROTECT OUR PHYSICAL INTEGRITY AND LEGAL RIGHTS – REQUEST THE FOLLOWING:

1)The Women Title Holders will not tolerate the violations of our constitution, ancient customs, traditions, inherent rights and agreements by Canada, Quebec, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and its agents who are attempting to encroach on our territory. The colonists are breaking their own laws by openly desecrating our historic rivers and village sites and burial grounds. At least 8 sites have been found on the proposed route. Natural waterways are being diverted. No valid environmental studies have been carried out.

2)We invite Canada, Quebec, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and their agents to resolve our differences in a mature and peaceful way, by rediscovering and brightening the spirit of the Two Row Wampum and the Covenant Chain that began our international relationship centuries ago.

3)Should Canada, Quebec, the Mohawk Council of Kahnwake and their agents continue to breach our rights, we shall take the necessary measures available to us in the international arena to correct the injustices that have been committed against us.

4)It is unacceptable to abuse people on the basis of race, religion, nationality, belief or membership in a particular social group. We invite all members of the colonizing societies to become partners with us to end this cycle of abuse, stop enforcing illegal jurisdiction over us and our territory, halt the illegal construction of Highway 30 and extend dignity, equality and a voice to all peoples.

“SLEIGHT OF HAND MAGIC”

- A TragiComedy of Deadly Errors in Five Acts set in Haudenosaunee Territory, early 21st Century: THE BORDER ATTACK IN CONTEXT

MNN. July 1, 2008. Sharbot Lake of Haudenosaunee Territory is a huge land claims fraud orchestrated by Ontario, Canada and the corporations that want the minerals lying under the bushes of the region. The goal is to develop the area for purposes that have yet to be revealed, or perhaps for the great and celestial aim of development for development’s sake.Uranium is the official front. The script writers have been busy. The area they want is south of the Ottawa River watershed, between Lakes Ontario, Erie and Huron. Nine fake Algonquin communities comprised mostly of non-native settlers have been groomed to “negotiate” and “sign away” the land.

The Cast:
”Ambulance Chasers”: Chris Reid, Steve Reynolds, Robert Potts, Brian Crane, Neil Smitheman, Alan Pratt; “Handlers”: Michael Bryant, et al.; “Willing Assets”: Randy Cota, Bob Lovelace, Harold Perry, Doreen Davis, Earl Badour, Cathie Duchene; “The Complicit”: CCAMU (The Community Coalition Against Mining Uranium) Frontenac News, Green Party; Chumps” the cast of thousands who follow along and don’t ask real questions. Directed by Rem “Roman Polansky” Westland; the Chorus: the Christian Peacemakers [Pacifiers] Team; Producer: the Government of Canada; Writer: the USA.

Prologue:
The Sharbot Lake of Haudensaunee Territory puppet show is staged to fool us into thinking that they can make us relinquish our land and make it look like uranium mining will be stopped at Robertsville. All the players in this magic display are scurrying around like rats. Lawyers, handlers and their assets parade across their makeshift stage. They’ve all been assigned roles but are still fighting to be the leading ham in this dark tragedy. The one who seals the deal gets the most$.

In May and June it’s a 5-act festival scripted by the greedy puppet masters in Ottawa, Washington, London, Europe and the Vatican.

In Act I the Ontario Minister of Aboriginal Affairs strolls into Sharbot Lake to talk to the pretend “Algonquins”. Act II takes us into the courtroom where Indigenous are brought to colonial justice, patently recognizable as injustice. Act III is a flurry of mind boggling announcements. Act IV is the vicious attack on 2 Mohawk women at the Cornwall border crossing. They’ve been exposing their crimes? Their dogged expose of ‘Algonquin Gate’. Act V is the showdown. See who panics! See how they run!

Act I – Stirring up Confusion

Scene 1: April 2008. The Mohawk people at Tyendinaga are recovering from an OPP/SWAT assault. May 8. Big Chief Doreen Davis of the newly created Shabot Obaadjiwans band of Algonquins is hosting the Ontario Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Michael “Brylcreme and Lipless” Bryant.

The Minister was invited a year ago to meet the “NoGonquins” to discuss a uranium mine. Last July 2007 a phony protest was staged at Robertsville mine site, 42 miles north of Kingston, Ontario, by two groups of pretend “No’Gonquins and their settler supporters”.

At that time “B & L” B. was in the Attorney General’s office lobbying to get 12 years in jail on 6 counts of “mischief” for Mohawk Shawn Brant of Tyendinaga. B & L proved his hostility to Indigenous people and promptly got promoted to Minister of Aboriginal Affairs.

In Sharbot Lake, B & L was slick enough to speak privately with Big Doreen and her Warchiefs, Luanda “Miss Who?” and Earl “Green Eggs and Ham” Badour. He also spoke to the “Shabot Obaadjiwan Justice Circle”. He was fascinated to see the wampum of a real Algonquin, William Commanda of Maniwaki, brought there to try to legitimize the Shabot’s phony Algonquin land claim.

Big Doreen says she “pressed the minister for a negotiated resolution”. Though she sat on him to pressure Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, Minister of Natural Resources Donna Cansfield and Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle, no “particular action” was promised. In return she guaranteed the Shabots “will respect [her] rule of law”.

She grumbled about needing some of “these lands for our food, medicine and peace of mind”, forgetting to mention her main feed bag source is either Wendy’s or McDonalds in Perth.

Scene 2: In mid May, 2008, Frontenac Ventures Corp. had an Ontario Mining Act permit to conduct an extensive radiometric survey over their so-called 30,000 acres claim of unceded Haudenosaunee territory. FVC is in the midst of a 40-week drilling exploration schedule that started last October under Judge Cunningham’s ruling. There are 4 weeks of drilling left. FVC plans to dig over 100 test holes which could release harmful radon into the watershed and air. George “Dried-Up-Old-Prune” White, President and CEO of FVC, is coy about whether or not they have begun drilling. The Ontario Provincial Police provides round-the-clock security at taxpayers’ expense.

Scene 3: Elections were held in March 2008 for the ANR (Algonquin Negotiation Representatives) and the Pikwakinagan Council at Golden Lake. Most were selected and then acclaimed for 25 or 30 years. Robert “Who-Looks-a-lot-like-that-self-proclaimed-expert-on-Indigenous repression-Jim” Potts, is now senior negotiator for the Algonquins. He bosses everybody and sets out membership and dress codes.

Shortly before the ANR’s meeting, May 14-16, 2008, Robert Potts of Blaney McMurtry LLP, issued a directive that meetings with Crown representatives and ambulance chasers are not open to their clients, the “Algonquins”. This is such a bizarre interpretation of Indigenous and international law that it looks like a breach. Whatever happened to the idea of prior informed consent? But then these are pretend Algonquins! So maybe they only have pretend rights?

Potts hopes for an Agreement-in-Principal (AIP) by 2010. The No’Gonquins can try to find out what went on from their ANR. If they don’t like it, they can just “hit the road, Jack!” And sign up some new “No’Gonquins”. Compliance is a must. Unlike other nationalities, Algonquin memberships expire after 5 years.

Potts yells at anyone who asks uncomfortable questions. This made the Ardoch “All-Chiefs-No-Indians” split from the Ontario Algonquins. Randy Cota, who is an OPP and the chief, has the job of silencing the questioners. Potts directs People to the Algonquins web site run by Patrick Howe of CoreshellGroup in Toronto. MNN exposed this ring
of crooks in a March 13, 2008 article, “VIRTUAL ALGONQUINS” – MADE IN “CANADA”.

Two days of the ANR’s meeting were spent setting up more meetings, deciding where to have lunch and looking busy to justify their $50,000 a year salary plus expenses.

When the Ontario and Canada negotiators arrived on May 16, the ANRs bowed, scraped, jumped up and down with glee and clapped. They were then told that Parliamentarians need their long summer vacations. Nothing could proceed until “late fall”. The ANR’s were left to think about membership criteria, to compose a constitution and an anthem. Big Doreen is flying the Mohawk Unity Flag and the Confederacy Hiawatha Flag. She’s got no right to as a phony Algonquin. She’s supposed to give $1 to the Confederacy for every pack of cigs she sells. But we hear her pockets are getting real heavy!

Act II – The Courtroom Theatre of the Absurd

Scene 1: “FVC’s lawsuit against the Shabot Obaadjiwan for $77 million” was on the marquis. The Shabots filed a “merry-go-round” counter claim against Ontario and Canada on May 25, 2008. Money is taken from the taxpayers, put through the “Indians” and then placed into the pockets of the corporations and their helpers. On June 2nd 2008, Little Stevie “Raised-on-Wonder-Bread” Reynolds, the ambulance chaser for the Shabots, lead the mock charge against the Government.

Scene 2: The Christian Pacifiers Team has a gig at the mine site from May 25 to June 8. They have two weeks to influence people into inaction and complacency.

Scene 3: Robert “Hisses-like-a-Flat-Can-of-Pop” Lovelace is released from jail on May 28, 2008. He spent 100 days in Lindsay Correctional Facility. His groupies flock around him for the photo ops. The public relations spin him as a “hero/martyr”, if you will. Simpering Lovelace’s meandering comments and love letters are published widely by the mainstream Press and posted on the internet by his followers, the complicit CCAMU (The Community Coalition Against Mining Uranium) and Frontenac News. The real martyrs are the KI6 (Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug).

Scene 4: On June 2, 2008, the show moves into the Kingston courtroom. George “Dried-up-Old-Bones” White of FVC gets a chance to feign power. His attorney, Neil “Who-Advocates-the-Earth-should-be-Plundered” Smitheman huffs and puffs. He’s also counsel for Platinex, the destroyer and plunderer of KI territory and its people.

FVC drops the 2nd set of contempt charges filed in February 2008 against Lovelace and six non-natives. However, the “Jane and John Doe” warrant continues against anyone who might stroll by the mine gates. “Protesters” have to stay 200 metres away from the gates and FVC employees. As for the FVC’s $77 million lawsuit against the Algonquins, taxpayers will have to dig deep to pay this off. Actually it’s our money from the theft of our lands and exploitation of our resources.

Act III – Bla, Bla, Bla, Spin, Spin, Spin

Scene 1: On June 8th 2008 the Ardoch “All Chiefs, No Indians” No-gonquins hold a meeting at the local Maberly Hall. More non-native settlers attend than Algonquins. Cathie “Lost-in-the-Woods” Duchene makes her confusing pitch. She came from British Columbia to set things straight that she’s the title holder to this vast Haudenosaunee tract south of the Ottawa River. Both Cathie and Big Doreen claim to be descendents of Mohawk Francis Sharbot of Kanehsatake. She wants the government to deal with her, not the No’Gonquins. Then she aligns herself with the Ardochs, Lovelace and OPP Randy Cota!! She appears determined to replace Big Chief “DD” at the negotiation table. Documents and maps are flying all over the place. These could be forged or changed, as the colonists have always done from the beginning.

Scene 2: On June 11, 2008 The Shabots issue a press release to pacify detractors into a stupor, “Fighting uranium is what this is all about.” Big Doreen refers to Lovelace as “our colleague” and the Ardochs as “our sister community”. The Shabots and the Ardochs barely speak to each other. She says that, “understanding and trust are built up” when they “sit down around the fire and talk things through”.

Last summer, those who challenged the protest organizers were reminded about the colonial “chain of command” and told to “shut up”. Many good sincere supporters were driven away. Mohawks were told they were not welcome [on their own land]. Iakoha’ko:wa, a nearby resident, received a threatening phone call from OPP Brandy Wynters of ART [Aboriginal Response Team], “You are not welcome at the protest camp”. Randy Cota told people not to talk to Iakoha’ko:wa.

The Shabots want to stay in the “legal arena somehow”. [probably the colonial] and to “ensure full discussion within the Shabot community”. OPP Chief Randy Cota demands specific I.D. from those who want to attend meetings. Otherwise they are thrown out. Doreen posts “Algonquins only” signs.

“Because of the delicate nature of the discussions, we need to keep details confidential.” We’ll let ya know sometime [after we made the deal and get our cut!] This sounds like “war strategy” on how to make “behind-closed-doors” secret deal that benefit the greedy few and rob the rest of the “pretenders”. Big Doreen and “Warchief” Earl “The-Only-One-who-Looks-Native” Badour sign on. CCAMU and Frontenac News, the local propaganda rag, dutifully post the carefully contrived “news”. The Mohawks stay in the bush, watch and wait. They know the land isn’t going anywhere though the criminal scam artists might end up in jail, if any honest Canadians ever wake up.

The non-native residents “don’t want to tell the Natives what to do”. They are beginning to see that the whole scenario is being orchestrated by some filthy rich white men, some living in cottages in the area.

Scene 3: On Friday June 13, 2008, The Shabot Obaadjiwans release another “blowhard” [press statement]. Big Doreen says they’ve “won a key concession from Ontario”. Ontario, the fake Algonquins of Ontario and Frontenac Ventures Corp. “are developing a consultation process” on how they are going to pull off their scam. While rolling their eyes at each other, they sing, “We intend this to be a true dialogue”.

How will Doreen “address” FVC’s goal to cut open a swath of earth some 5 miles long to get at some low grade uranium? Mine or no mine?? That is the question. Big Doreen promises to keep sitting on the bureaucrats and politicians who shower her with new gas pumps at her cig shack at Silver Lake.

Scene 4: Still on Friday, June 13th, Cathie “Who’s-Now-Hanging-around-Sharbot-Lake” Duchene emails her own “blowhard” to a number of the “bottom feeders” involved in this scam, including Brian Crane (negotiator for Ontario) and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty. Frontenac News publishes it on June 19. Cathie “Who-May-Not-be-a-Bear-at-All” Duchene arrived like a locomotive to stake her claim to Sharbot Lake. She is staying under the protection of the Sharbot Lake OPP detachment.

Her letter squeals about her alleged “Mohawk-ness” and being a “title holder under the Great Law”. There’s no evidence she ever listened to it when it was read. She also declares, “I fully support the Ardoch Algonquins, under their wise respected Honorary Elder, Harold Perry, who I have known for most of my life and remember when he visited us as a young girl.” Cathie previously said she had “never met the man”. Does she have a double personality?

Cathie thanks Randy and Harold and commends them for “practicing and living [their] traditions”!! Cathie invites all to call her so they can get more confused.

Scene 5: Still on Friday, June 13, Frontenac Ventures and Gemmill Sand & Gravel, a local outfit, are charged with “breach of environmental regulation” by the Ardochs. Road construction to the drill sites damaged “sensitive wetlands” when they “dumped fill into the waterways severing the natural flow of water”. MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) “appears” to be making FVC tow the line on their way to complete devastation of the area and watershed which reaches urban centers like Ottawa and Montreal.

Act IV – Trying to Silence MNN

Scene 1: Less than 24 hours later MNN’s editor and manager are attacked at the Cornwall border on Saturday, June 14. The brutal attack at Akwesasne that afternoon is well documented. They were beaten by Canadian Border Service Agency “goons”. Kahentinetha was hospitalized and Katenies was held incommunicado for 2 days.

Scene 2: That same Saturday night in Kingston, 1,000 people packed a hall for a Bruce Cockburn concert honoring Bob Lovelace and raising $20,000 for him. They are trying to help legitimize his part in the big land claims with the Ardochs, Big Doreen, the Shabots and all the criminal operatives of the Crown.

Scene 3: The next day, a few Shabots hold a rally 210 meters from the Robertsville mine site gates.

Scene 4: Monday morning, June 16 Katenies is in a Cornwall courtroom facing hokey charges of “running the border”. She carefully recounted the recent sequence of events and clarifies her position in a June 29 MNN article, “Katenies questions border at Cornwall Ontario court 9:00 am July 14 2008″. The mainstream media continues to boycott the entire history making event.

Scene 5: The Shabot cabal meet with bureaucrats in Toronto. After being wined and dined, they emerge full of s**t.

Scene 6: On June 21, 2008, after Lovelace has a few days of rest and gets his new instructions from his “handlers”, the Ardochs issue another blowhard. It’s Ambulance chaser Chris Reid drivel supposedly coming from Harold Perry, honorary chief. Chief Paula “Professor of Fake Algonquin History” Sherman, Chief Mireille “Affidavit Indian” LaPointe and Chris Reid are the contacts. They coin it the “four prongs of protest, education, legal action and political pressure” which has been playing out since last summer. Lovelace plays the “political prisoner” who has suffered trauma and can’t say too much at this time.

The Ardochs apparently got their pow wow site at Malcom Lake (approved by Ontario but NOT the municipality). They are in secret talks to get unknown acreage at Crotch Lake. There is the usual reference to the Royal Proclamation of 1763 and their opposition to uranium mining.

The fifth prong to their strategy is “healing”. The CPT act is being brought in to help kill any critical thinking that might still be floating around. Uncomfortable questions are labeled as “harmful” because it stops people from feeling the pain. Everyone is encouraged to put up and shut up in the name of peace.

Act V The End is Just the Beginning

Scene 1: Bright and early Monday morning, while out fishing, Big Doreen tells Jeff Green of Frontenac News that “a pilot consultation framework is slated to be announced by the end of this week” on June 27. It will involve lots of public meetings and “free food”! Two settlers might be picked to go into the bush with Big Doreen as “observers” of alleged uranium mining activity. If Jeff, a slight man with a mop top, gets picked, he’ll get sat on to give Big Doreen some credibility in his newspaper. Jeff ignores all the well-researched Mohawk articles, complaints and documents, even maps that prove this is Haudenosaunee territory and that the “Algonquin” claim is a fraud.

Frontenac News dutifully publishes on June 26th that Frontenac Ventures will start drilling on July 21. The ANR’s hold a “nation” meeting in Kanata on the same day.

Scene 2: Today people desire peace and security at any price. They are being convinced to give up their liberty and to abandon critical thinking. ANY criticism is denounced as “trouble making” or confrontational. People are threatened if they question or look into the deeper realities. They are side tracked that it is a “conspiracy theory”. Religion and other dogma are used to pacify people into inaction and to dull their minds.

The eagle at the top of the Great Tree of Peace has the sight to see for miles around and can answer a call from 20 miles or more away. Eagles remind us to connect the dots, to be vigilant over our freedoms and to protect the people we Love.

Epilogue

This play is based on real life events. Many choose to go along with the script that has been written for us trying to guide us to our doom. We can get creative and resist the corruption and plunder by opening our eyes and using all our gifts.

Katenies will be in the Cornwall courthouse July 14 to ask the question, “How and when did the Crown gain jurisdiction over us?”

Sharbot Lake
The legal challenge on the border issue will cost money. MNN has none. Canada has unlimited funds from exploiting indigenous resources. We need counsel that will not be intimidated by this display of power. Canada is apparently hiring top law firms to fight the Mohawks. Your financial help is needed. If you could send donations, it would be greatly appreciated: Checks and money orders to “MNN Mohawk Nation News”, Box 991, Kahnawake [Quebec, Canada] J0L 1B0. Thank you very much.

Book Review: Great Law v. Handsome Lake Code

“THE ON-GOING CONFUSION BETWEEN
THE GREAT LAW AND THE HANDSOME LAKE CODE”

MNN. Oct. 28, 2007. MNN Mohawk Nation News has published another book in the “Mohawk Issues for Dummies Series”. It’s called “The On-Going Confusion Between the Great Law of Peace and the Handsome Lake Code”. Here are some comments from two people who read the book:

“Gees, I always thought I was ”traditional” because of my belief in the “Creator”! It looks like I have to question how I relate to the natural world and my responsibilities to it”, stated a Kanion’ke:haka youth who is always looking for answers.

“What a colonial conspiracy! This is the first time anyone took the Great Law philosophy and compared it with the Christian-based Handsome Lake Code ”, said a surprised elder of Kahnawake.

This book helps readers to understand the alarming turn of events at Six Nations over the land reclamation. For almost two years the Six Nations people, our friends and allies successfully took back and held Indigenous land known as “Douglas Creek Estates”, now called “Kanenhstaton”.

The Indigenous right to this land that was stolen by the settlers is well documented in the records kept by colonial society. This is why officials from Canada and Ontario have never offered to have Six Nations rights reviewed in a court or by a neutral third party. If the evidence was properly reviewed, they would lose. Their only hope to continue with the theft of the Six Nations land is to get someone to agree to terms that reduce Six Nations rights.

According to the Great Law, only the women can deal with land issues as we are the “progenitors of the nation” and the land is held by us for the future generations. The Confederacy chiefs, clan mothers, “talkers” and lawyers that are sitting with Canada and Ontario are suppose to be discussing the return of our stolen land. Instead they got suckered into setting up something called the “Haudenosaunee Development Institute” to sign our land over to white developers. Decisions were made without meeting us and coming to a consensus. Permission was given for the Ontario Provincial Police to attack those of us who objected to the illegal housing development, who are now facing charges in the colonial court.

The chiefs and clan mothers at Six Nations violated our law. The following abstract from “The On-Going Confusion Between the Great Law and the Handsome Lake Code” lays out the source of their confusion and inability to push the Six Nations sovereignty and land issue. They are influenced by the fear based colonial ideology known as the “Handsome Lake Code”.

“A “philosophy” is the basic underlying principles, conduct, thought and knowledge in how a people relate to the natural world. An “ideology” is based on doctrines, opinions or ways of thinking which set out how a people shall behave, not necessarily based on a knowledge or practical understanding of the nature of the universe. These differences can be seen in the conflict between the ”Great Law of Peace” and the ”Handsome Lake Code” which, on the surface, are seemingly similar traditional understandings in Iroquois communities.

The Great Law is a pre-contact philosophy which formed the basis of Iroquois culture. The opening thanksgiving outlines an interdependent system of relations of all elements of nature which are equal; women have powerful roles in social, political and economic life; and the people form the base of power.

The Handsome Lake Code is a post-contact Christian based ideology which outlines a hierarchical order of the “spirit” forces, offices and elements of nature arranged according to their idea of power. This ‘faith’ is trying to get rid of the Great Law in most Iroquois communities.

This book compares the principles of the two. The conflict is between the “inner directed” Great Law adherents and the “accommodationist” Handsome Lake followers. The Great Law adherents are directed by the inner core of our knowledge system and traditions. The Handsome Lake followers are influenced by outside forces to accept the modes of colonial society.”

The conflict is created by religions and how they weaken, confuse and control our people. Elders like Karonhiaktajeh, Kanietahawi and others explain their relationships with Christianity and the Church and how they had to struggle to be free. They describe their lifelong battle to get rid of the deeply ingrained psychological conditioning designed to break down their will and freedom of thought.

Today we are beginning to see how we were made to live under its shadow without realizing its effect on us. We think we’re “traditional” when we are practising Christian-based rituals such as confession while wearing Indian clothes. We also take on the traditions of a variety of other Indigenous nations. For example, the ‘pow wow’ takes native imagery from its original context, i.e., the Plains Indians, and adapts it. There are many similarities in the nature-based philosophies of all Indigenous peoples on Turtles Island and beyond.

The Great Law of Peace is the Constitution of the Iroquois, also referred to as the “Old Way”. This confederation of five nations, later six, was a powerful force before and during the colonial period of Turtle Island or North America as it is called by the European settlers. Certain principles of the constitution were adopted as the basis of the Constitution of the United States, such as the three party structure and some symbols. The Iroquois Confederacy still exists today. Most Iroquois nations are finding their way back to the original Great Law philosophy.

Basic principles, a comparison of the “Law” and the “Code” and where they contradict each other are set out. To make sense of this deep-rooted conflict in Iroquois communities, these two philosophies are examined. Iroquois followers of the Great Law see the Handsome Lake Code as deliberately attempting to disregard the ancient world view of the Iroquois. The Handsome Lake followers believe they are “traditional”.

An understanding of these matters offers key insights into methodologies that are being used by colonial officials to undermine attempts at Six Nations to uphold our sovereign rights.

WHAT IS THE ONKWEHONWE DEMOCRATIC AGENDA?

WHAT IS THE ONKWEHONWE DEMOCRATIC AGENDA?MNN. Feb. 25, 2007. We’ve been complaining about the top-down bureaucratic agenda of the colonizers. Do we have something to replace it? Yes we do. It’s called the Kaianerehkowa/Great Law of Peace. Our philosophy can build a society based on a better understanding of peace, power and righteousness. These words have meanings that are deeply rooted in our culture and completely different from the kinds of expectations they raise among the colonized. Our understanding of these concepts has nothing in common with the command and obedience model of predatory capitalism that exploits the ordinary people for the power and profit of a few. The new (colonial) world order is incompatible with a way of life based on the principles of fully informed consent and consensus in all our relationships.

For more than a thousand years we have had a participatory democracy. In an article by Stephen Lendman, in CounterCurrent.org entitled “Hugo Chavez’s Social Democratic Agenda”, he describes how Chavez has “constructed socialism from below”, built “from the base” in the communities”. He has found a way “to carry out the battle of ideas for the socialist project to rebuild Venezuelan society. He wants a coalition of smaller parties whose power comes from the communities.

Chavez wants to build 21st century socialism using state revenues to benefit people in new and innovative ways. He wants to give more power to the people at the grass roots level which he thinks is the way democracy should work.

There are presently 16,000 regional federations of Communal Councils organized across the country dealing with local issues. Each has 200 to 400 families. That number is expected to grow to 21,000 councils by year end 2007. “They are the key to people’s power”. This looks like the embryo of a new state, driven by the same basic philosophy of egalitarian human respect that underlies the Kaianerehkowa.

An intergovernmental fund for decentralization will distribute billions to these Councils in 2007. This is more than triple the amount allocated in 2006. If the people so chose, billions can be put into a “National Development Fund” for industrial development. Yellow journalism has been attacking this thinking. They put fear into people’s minds, calling it “nationalization”, which is a dirty word to capitalist colonial economies. Capitalism is really a one way road for the privileged few. Hostile rhetoric and outright attacks can be expected when true grass roots orthodoxies are ignored. Development of democratic programs look threatening to those who have violently struggled their way to the top of the old hierarchal heap.

As we assert our sovereignty, we have lots to think about. What can we Onkwehonwe do with all our land and resources and all the squatters who are here? The land still belongs to the Indigenous people and always will. All the resource revenues can be used to compensate the colonists fairly. The rest can be put towards rebuilding a safe and healthy environment.

U.S. and Canada will, of course, become irrelevant. The old hierarchies will cling to their delusional powers. They will keep their guns pointed at us and try to invent more lethal weapons. We’ll have to bring out the feathers and start tickling them so they get real. If they don’t, we might have to ask them to leave. They have legal obligations. They are violating the Geneva Accords. Their hysterical megalomania is getting them involved in serious violations. They risk being declared persona non grata worldwide.

With all the money from our land and resources, we could buy out the big corporations so that we have the major shares, say 40%, as Chavez is doing. The rest can be joint ventures with us. In other words, we want all these companies under the control of the people. The colonists can have shares after we take everything out of private control.

The money should be put back into our hands where it belongs, out of the hands of private for-profit bankers. We would invest it into worthwhile projects that meet our priorities and that will restore and protect the land so that the coming generations can be healthy, happy and prosperous. The days of genocide and exploitation are over. We must benefit most from our resource revenues and other businesses that provide essential services like public utilities. Clean drinking water and fresh air to breathe would be one of our top priority.

Private businesses will have to be transparent and abide by new standards of fairness. This will be a big adjustment for those who are used to having their way.

We will redefine and restructure our relationships. It goes without saying that Indian Affairs has to go. Communal power at the grass roots will be the order of the day. This is the basis of the post-colonial model. Kaianerehkowa can make this happen and can be the start of a real egalitarian and humanistic society.

All social structures will have to be reorganized. Selections of local officials, the economy, finance, banking, transportation, security, public safety and policies related to energy are part of this. There is no need for a top heavy governmental structure when everyone takes responsibility at all levels.

The current colonial bureaucracy will have to be dismantled. Some of it could be adjusted to the new reality. Corruption is a major problem and has to be eliminated. Social justice and economic independence will be based on equitable distribution of national wealth spent on health care, education and social security. Education is of utmost importance. Racism must be eliminated from all school curricula. Science and technology has to benefit all of the people. So must education, health, the environment, biodiversity, industry, quality of life and security. Financial sectors, including banking and insurance, will have to conform to the Kaianerehkowa. Responsibility has to be returned to the people so we can take charge of our own welfare.

Public health, rehabilitation, identification and migration regulations are all matters that we can deal with ourselves using the Kaianherehkowa methodology. We will not need a judiciary. We will be able to solve everything through consensus.

The people must control the energy sector including oil production. Private investors can still play a role. But it will be based on equitable joint ventures that include the people as decision makers, not just consumers.

Local, community and territorial organizations will be set up. The principles of the Kaianerekowa will inform all our relationships. As long as representatives are carrying out the will and the wishes of the people, they may remain in their positions. All procedures and decision making must be public and the work of all administrative officials will be subject to constant review. They can be removed from office if they do not follow the people’s directions or heed our warnings. All must be given the experience of being a representative so that we can all learn how to help the people. It is important for us to learn how difficult it is to serve.

We cannot give anyone power to harm civil or human rights of our people or even of our opponents.

We will conduct all relations with other countries. Colonial states squatting on our land do not represent us.

We will not expropriate private property. Right of occupancy can be given to people. The land continues to belong as it always has to the Onkwehonwe.

The last days of the colonial system are at hand. Democracy and colonialism cannot coexist. Colonialism is a military or civilian “dictatorship” derived from a combination of isolation, overarching greed and an attempt to pull local and global forces together to control all the people and the resources of the world.

Savage capitalism is fighting to stay alive. It is putting colonial nations on the tipping edge of fascism. It combines elements of corporatism, patriotism, nationalism and the delusion of an Almighty-directed mission while pursuing an iron-fisted militarist agenda, with thugs like “Homeland Security” enforcers that are illegally spying on everyone. In this system everything is for sale to the few who can pay.

Under our system things will be distributed fairly. No one will become desperate enough to want to sell their soul to the devil.

Colonialism is out of date, illegal and so yesterday. No longer will the armies oppress and kill for the key resources, markets and cheap labor where “might makes right” and any difference of opinion will not be tolerated. We will challenge them even though we place ourselves in jeopardy such as being made public enemy number one marked for elimination.

Our youth are precious to us. The Los Angeles Times did a story about “A wildly successful Venezuelan program that makes musical instruments and training available, free of charge, to all children”. This gives the children something constructive to do, in contrast to the U.S. model which struggles to keep guns out of the hands of kids. Chavez created a musical education program called “El Sisterna” which serves 500,000 children from all strata of society getting training at more than 120 centers around the country. From it more than 200 youth orchestras have been created. Training in music is a known way to develop math skills in the young to prepare them later for professional training.

Suddenly crime control isn’t even a problem on the horizon. It is less expensive than the multi-billion dollars state-sponsored iron-fisted prison system and militarist Homeland Security “thuggery”. Instead of punishing youth, they are inspired. As the author, Paul Cummins, put it, “We reap what we sow, and we don’t harvest what we don’t plant”.

We have always been free. No one can take our freedom from us. Many of those who come from repressive societies are unable to see a bottom-up model of relationships. We have shown that we cannot be oppressed. We have always resisted enslavement.

Another issue is homelessness. We will offer street people communal housing, drug treatment and a modest income. We cannot allow a single child or a single beggar to live on the street. We must guide our homeless to shelters and rehabilitation centers that provide medical and psychological care. They can do community service work. We have to stop planned public neglect that favors private sector gain and disinterest in educating poor inner-city children who are discarded like debris by an uncaring colonial state.

Homelessness highlights the savage effects of capitalism. It is the result of one-way wealth distribution that siphons everything upwards except for a few crumbs that are handed to the middle class while nothing goes to the millions on the bottom though they are the most in need. They all hope we will just go away. We won’t. Neither will our needs. We come from a participatory tradition which can eliminate the greedy fantasies of colonialism.

Free expression is part of an open democratic society. No more secrecy or lies. No more corporate media support for capitalists and colonial states. No more thought-control police to mock our efforts at free expression which is vital to a healthy transition from tyranny to democracy. The “thought police” doesn’t want us to say what is on our minds. They don’t want us to think. We can and will do it because the Kaianerehkowa mandates it. Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and others to the South are being empowered by the people to get back on the natural path that has always been there, for us and for everyone. Chavez is doing it without a war and without global interference. We can do it too.

New York land?

New NYS Governor Eliot Spitzer is about to sign our land into “trust” to build a casino. It is illegal. We would appreciate as many of our native brothers and sisters and our friends and allies registering our opposition on his site before he signs it into “law” on Jan. 1, 2007. Thank you.
Kahentinetha Horn
To: Mr. Eliott Spitzer, Governor of New York State

December 29, 2006.

Before you became Governor of New York State, you were the Attorney General of New York State. At that time you fought against fraud, crime and corruption at all levels. We are now asking you to abide by the laws of the land.

The department of the Interiors’ Bureau of Indian Affairs has just signed off on the environmental assessment. You, Governor Eliot Spitzer, are about to sign off on January 1, 2007 to illegally change our land into “federal trust”. This is a major fraud. Now the proposed St. Regis Mohawk “Tribe’s” casino can go ahead at Monticello Raceway in New York State on our land without our consent. This violates international law. We oppose this. New York State law does not supersede the U.S. Constitution, which you would be violating. As you know, this is treason.

We the Women Title Holders of the Kanion’ke:haka/Mohawk Nation are informing you of the following objections to this project:

1) to the usurpation of our jurisdiction over “New York State” and beyond by the U.S., New York State, non-Indigenous entities, corporations, foreign federal, state, county, boards, state tribal “governance” agencies and all other “outsiders”.

2) to the illegal placing of our sovereign territory into federal trust with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, including lands known as “Monticello” and “Sullivan County” to build casinos on or to do any development.

3) to enforcing “Federal Indian law” which violates the nation-to-nation relationship worked out between our constitutions, the Kaianereh’ko:wa, and the U.S. Constitution. As you will recall, in 2005 New York State failed to fraudulently claim our lands. You know very well that the signing in Albany on Feb. 1, 2005, with the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Inc., the Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs Inc. and Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Inc. to settle so-called land claims was fraudulent and fell. Your concurrent transactions such as taxation, casinos, developments, revenue sharing and other ploys are all illegal and scandalous.

4) to foreign government and corporate entities usurping jurisdiction over us and our unsurrendered land that is respected by Article II of the U.S. Constitution. We Indigenous people still own outright all the land and resources of Turtle Island (that you call North America). These foreign corporations cannot legally put up our land as collateral to solicit public funds for their developments on our land. This is fraud.

Only the Rotinonhsonnion:we/Longhouse People, who abide by the Kaianereh’ko:wa/Iroquois Constitution, are the legitimate voice of our nation. All land, commerce and Kanion’ke:haka Nation issues are the responsibility of the People and not that of outside corporations such as those you have set up like the “tribal” and “band” councils. Any agreements entered into under federal Indian law or state law with the St. Regis Mohawk Council Inc. or any of it’s affiliated departments for the sale, purchase or transfer of our lands under the guise of the Mohawk Nation is illegal, null and void.

The U.S. must abide by the international law principle that there can be no development on Indigenous land without consulting and getting the consent of the true Title Holders.

Our objections to this illegal assumption of jurisdiction by United States, New York State and St. Regis Mohawk Tribe have been registered in the United States Supreme Court case No. 05-165: 2005.

We require you to intervene in the theft of our jurisdiction over our Indigenous territory now called “New York State” and beyond. Do not sign this fraudulent transfer of our land into federal trust and all its attendant underhanded business deals. You vowed as the former Attorney General to stop all corruption. Now that you are the Governor you cannot now knowingly break the law.

Signed: Kahentinetha Horn /s/ ________________ Kanionkeke’ha:ka/Mohawk Nation kahentinetha2@yahoo.com, P.O. Box 418, Akwesasne (New York) 13655 1-613-575-1550
