Sharon Jayson\u00a0of\u00a0USA TODAY and Sujata Gupta of Psychology Today wrote about a study in 29 countries by Northwestern University in Evanston Ill on how culture may shape genes. \u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most people of color carry the short allele.\u00a0 When they\u00a0leave their people, they can become depressed.\u00a0 To protect themselves, they don\u2019t stray from their group.\u00a0 Or they join a similar group.\u00a0 Immigrants from faraway places may be prone to depression, as they don\u2019t have access to their group.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Psychologist Joan Chiao, said communal cultures value social harmony and working together.\u00a0 Such cultures protect individuals with depression.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Is that why the Mohawk ironworkers came home every weekend?\u00a0 If they remained part of or in contact with their people, were they protecting themselves from depression?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Highly individualistic cultures such as the USA and\u00a0Western Europe\u00a0“value uniqueness over harmony\u201d, having their way rather than agreement or understanding.\u00a0 They see themselves as unique from the group.\u00a0 They don\u2019t see the communal perspective.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Members of individualistic cultures have a need to assert their leadership over others or force them to submit to them.\u00a0 If they can\u2019t control or be superior to somebody, they become anxious.\u00a0 Their own people don\u2019t jump to their aid.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Western culture is more concerned with “me”.\u00a0 Communal cultures focus on “we.”\u00a0 They think communal cultures should be changed.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

When a group must work together as equals to survive, Westerners may find themselves alone.\u00a0 Who would listen to them, look after them or do the work for them?\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the end, will they try to eat us, as depicted in the movies \u201cThe Road\u201d or \u201cAlive\u201d?\u00a0These films were long allele responses to apocalyptic events.\u00a0 The white people lacked the natural urge to take on a group identity.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The fast decreasing Western population fear having no one to dominate.\u00a0 In a catastrophe [probably of their own making] their victims may turn their back on them.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Have long allele people become expendable?\u00a0 Is nature weeding out those who have harmed the earth?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
