SQ CORPORAL LEMAY’S DEATH IN OKA IN 1990

MNN. Sept. 18, 2006. In 1991, a year after the 1990 Mohawk Oka Crisis, a reporter from the Montreal Mirror met with some Rotiskenrakete at the Mohawk Nation Office in Kahnawake. He had information about the death of SQ Surete du Quebec Corporal Marcel Lemay during the para-military attack on the Mohawks of Kanehsatake on July 11, 1990.

In early 1990 there had been a so-called “civil war stirred up between the Rotiskenrakete and anti-warriors in Akwesasne. The anti-warriors were supported by the US and Canada.

SQ Internal Affairs had launched an investigation into illegal sales of weapons to the anti’s without proper permits by a shop in Valleyfield, Quebec, west of Montreal.

It appears that the SQ had given the Akwesasne Tribal Police a check to buy guns. They went to Valleyfield with some anti-warriors. Instead of cashing it beforehand, they gave the check to the storeowner to pay for the guns. Several days later two Mohawk men were shot and killed. These killings remain unresolved.

SQ Internal Affairs found information about the financing and supply of weapons to the anti-warriors in Akwesasne to destroy the Rotiskenrakete.

Corporal Lemay was in charge of the internal investigation. He went to the gun store in Valleyfield. The books showed an SQ check had paid for the guns. Lemay was ready to report his findings.

On the morning of July 11th, 1990, three of the four SWAT units in the Montreal district were assigned to the Oka region. They were to launch a para-military attack on the Mohawks in the ceremonial grounds known as the Pines. The SQ has never told who issued this order.

Corporal Lemay worked behind the desk investigating police misconduct. On this day he was ordered to suit up with a bullet-proof vest, helmet and M-16 to take part in a military style attack on Mohawk men, women and children. Minutes after the attack, Lemay lay dead.

A bullet had entered his left side just below his armpit between the unprotected area of the vest and his body. Lemay never got beyond Mohawk lines and never had any Rotiskenrakere behind or beside him. They had retreated into the woods for better defensive positions. The SQ had tried to attack from the front and side to catch Rotiskenrakete in the crossfire in a “flanking maneuver.

Lemay was on the main front assault line. He was killed outright. The reporter questioned the SQ’s investigation into Lemay ’s death. Normally when an officer is killed in the line of duty, someone must pay the price. The SQ treated the death as a civilian casualty.

Immediately following the attack SQ Internal Affairs descended on Lemay’s home and seized all his documents. Mrs. Lemay told the media, “I don’t hold the Mohawks responsible for the death of my husband.

The reporter concluded that the incident was a setup and cover up. Along with disposing of Lemay, the assault on our people was the “final push by the Quebec, Canada and US governments to choke the Mohawk people into submission and to criminalize us. They were trying to destroy our economic independence.

The reporter was discredited and threatened to “leave well enough alone. Lemay’s discovery of SQ involvement in Akwesasne’s so-called “civil war would have implicated the SQ top brass and brought down high government officials.

HELPLESS TO HOPELESS

Human Breaking Point – Silent War·

MNN. Aug. 31, 2009. Canada’s military is using Indigenous to test their “war on terror” and to train their killers. Helplessness and hopelessness are old strategies: such as putting pressure on us, taking it off, cops grabbing our youth, torturing, maiming and threatening them and then releasing them.

Psychological warfare is supposed to replace real total war. Silent Weapons are economic and psychological tactics to herd and enslave peoples through coercion. Its developers are unspeakably evil.

The Pentagon’s counter-insurgency warfare program is based on the theories of Prof. Martin Seligman of the American Psychological Association to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd) of war veterans. MNN is interpreting Peter Chamberlin’s revealing Weaponizing Psychology – Treating People Like Dogs [28 Aug, 2009. ]

The US military created computer-modeled psyops plans based on Seligman’s theories of “learned helplessness,” to create “learned hopelessnessâ€, to push people to the breaking point.

The masses constantly get false reports like the economy is improving. Some people and animals give up when faced with inescapable pain, cruelty and relentless uncertainty.

The CIA’s torture/interrogation program is based on this “water-boarding” mentality. Prisoners are electro-shocked and treated like dogs. Dog cages, collars and leashes break down resistance and destroy their will to escape, even when offered a way out. This was done to our children in residential schools.

Servicemen are subjected to traumatic shock and stress. Hypnosis teaches aggression and resisting human nature and exhaustion. They’re told that real “men” and “patriots” can overcome any trauma they saw or inflicted. Actually many vets do not recover.

The Real Warriors Campaign does not treat the unstable and those traumatized by the organized slaughter they carried out, or those who attempt suicide or go on shooting sprees. Otherwise the fascist war on terror cannot be expanded.

The military thought they could turn “learned helplessness” or temporary insanity into a useful weapon. SEAS, synthetic environment for analysis and simulation, is a hopelessness predictor on when people will break down emotionally and become borderline unstable.

The Sentient World Simulation SWS is using current real events to break down peoples. Military leaders think they can predict behaviors by controlling individuals and mobs through various economic and psychological stresses.

Homeland Security and Defense Department use SWS to manipulate populations through fear and anxiety-induced helplessness. Favorite panic causing events are earthquakes, tsunamis, terrorist attacks, fake bombs, economic melt down and false flag operations like 911.

Canada created a replica of the Mohawk community of Kahnawake to train soldiers in lethal warfare against civilian Indigenous. Pentagon simulated Baghdad for the new Special Forces counter-insurgency program. They try to anticipate snipers, blind spots and breaking points of civilians. Peaceful-looking actions are supposed to win over locals and take advantage of their breaking points.

These strategies didn’t work. Both the failed Israeli invasions of Lebanon and last year’s destruction of Gaza were based on these theories. Adversaries were temporarily weakened. The Israeli world image remains darkly stained.

The elite beast is panicking because they could not make us submit. They forgot their failures in Vietnam, Iraq and elsewhere. Creating learned helplessness, mass hopelessness and capitulation is failing.

We can stop this Silent War. Don’t give up!

MILITARY & GEOGRAPHERS PLAN INDIGENOUS DISPOSSESSION

MILITARY & GEOGRAPHERS PLAN INDIGENOUS DISPOSSESSION

MNN. Sep. 12, 2009. Colonists Canada, US and Mexico formed a political block to better control Indigenous territories, labor and resources.

In 1973, Henry Kissinger said that depopulation should be the highest priority of foreign policy towards less developed countries. The US needs our resources. [www.findsomequotes.com/henry-kissinger-new-york-times-oct-28-1973].

Indigenous are the greatest resisters of global control by international banksters. We assert autonomy, self-determination and human rights by communally holding our territory. It’s an obstacle to theft by US political and economic interests.

The US military and geographers have a plan to dissolve indigenous autonomy, self-determination and resistance.

In 2005, the US Department of Defense gave Kansas University $500,000 to map communally-held indigenous land in the Mexican states of San Luis Potosi and Oaxaca. The professors and US Foreign Military Studies Office FMSO at Fort Leavenworth Army Base are implementing the “Mexico Indigena program to privatize Indigenous communal lands.

The Officers are trained in land and resource theft at the US Army School of the Americas. They also learn to torture and set up death squads in Latin America.

Propaganda is spread that our communities are breeding grounds of crime and insurgency. They advise doing away with our communities.

Land data and military strategy was carried out in Colombia [Mapping Colombia: Land Data and Strategy]. At the same time, the FMSO assessed so-called guerrilla armies, terrorist organizations and Indigenous defenses.

As part of NAFTA the Mexican President revoked Article 27 of the constitution that turned communal land grants over to the indigenous in 1912.

On January 1, 1994, the day after NAFTA went into effect the Zapatistas captured a third of the state of Chiapas.

Oaxaca State is extremely wealthy in natural resources. It is a site for NAFTA based mega industrial projects known as Plan Puebla Panama such as highways, railways, ports, wind energy, mines, agribusinesses, and maquiladora-style assembly plants. Indigenous communities are pushed off their land, used for cheap labor or robbed of their livelihood.

A geographer at the University of the Earth in Oaxaca City saw the danger. Mapping was combined with US military aid known as the Merida Initiative, to displace Indigenous communities, remove hot spots and control the region. Natural and mineral resources could then be stolen by government and its transnational allies.

On June 14, 2006 a teacher’s union strike in Oaxaca City erupted. It was a popular Indigenous uprising of farm workers, teachers, students, housewives, and laborers. The people wanted traditional land tenure and self-governance.

The Oaxacan People’s Popular Assembly APPO took over the state’s capitol city for six months. It was organized under the Indigenous principle of leading by obeying the people and through consensus.

They occupied state, local, and federal government offices and took over food, water, transportation and communication. The state police started murdering, disappearing, raping, torturing and drive-by shooting. The movement temporarily eroded.

The “Mexico Indigena mapping project then moved to a biologically diverse and mineral-rich region in Oaxaca.

In southern Mexico territory and culture are together. Constant propaganda devalues Indigenous culture.

Holding land communally maintains indigenous culture, life and identity. The capitalists can’t overcome our birthright and natural relationship with the land. International law provides that changes can only be made with our full knowledge and consent, which we’ll never give. Removing the artificial borders between Canada, US and Mexico is for the immigrants and foreigners, not us.

MILITARY & GEOGRAPHERS MAP DISPOSSESSION OF INDIGENOUS

MILITARY & GEOGRAPHERS MAP DISPOSSESSION OF INDIGENOUS
MNN. Sept. 12, 2009. The three colonies of Canada, US and Mexico are forming a political block to better control Indigenous labor and to seize our resources. In 1973, Henry Kissinger in effect said that depopulation should be the highest priority of foreign policy towards the less developed countries because the US needs to steal their resources. [www.findsomequotes.com/henry-kissinger-new-york-times-oct-28-1973].

The greatest resistance to global control by international banker thugs are indigenous communities. We assert autonomy, self-determination and human rights when we communally hold our territory. This creates an obstacle to theft of our land and resources by US political and economic interests.

The US military and geographers have a plan to prey on and dissolve indigenous communities and resistance.

In 2005, the US Department of Defense gave Kansas University $500,000 to map communally-held indigenous land in the Mexican states of San Luis Potosi and Oaxaca. The professors and the US Foreign Military Studies Office FMSO at Fort Leavenworth are implementing the “Mexico Indigena program to privatize Indigenous lands which are presently held communally.

The Officers are trained in land and resource theft at the US Army School of the Americas which also teaches torture and sets up death squads in Latin America.

The plan is to get rid of Indigenous autonomy and self-determination to get our territory and resources. Propaganda is being spread that our communities are breeding grounds of crime and insurgency and must be done away with.

Land data and military strategy was carried out in Colombia [Mapping Colombia: Land Data and Strategy]. While collecting data, the FMSO assessed so-called guerrilla armies, terrorist organizations and Indigenous defenses.

In 1992 the Mexican President revoked Article 27 of the constitution which had turned communal land grants over to Mexico’s indigenous people in 1912. The North American Free Trade Agreement NAFTA revoked this.

The day NAFTA went into effect, on January 1, 1994, the Zapatistas captured a third of the state of Chiapas, who continue to resist and inspire human rights struggles elsewhere.

Oaxaca State is extremely wealthy in natural resources. It is a site for NAFTA based mega industrial projects known as Plan Puebla Panama such as highways, railways, ports, wind energy, mines, agribusinesses, and maquiladora-style assembly plants. Indigenous communities are pushed off their land, used for cheap labor or robbed of their livelihood because they are considered non-viable.

A geographer at the University of the Earth in Oaxaca City saw the danger of these mapping junkets. They were combined with talks for US military aid known as the Merida Initiative. The military planned to displace Indigenous communities, remove hot spots and control the region. Natural and mineral resources could then be stolen by the government and its transnational allies.

On June 14, 2006 a teacher’s union strike in Oaxaca City blew up into a popular Indigenous uprising of farm workers, teachers, students, housewives, and laborers. The people wanted traditional forms of land tenure and self-governance.

The Oaxacan People’s Popular Assembly APPO took over the state’s capitol city for six months. It became the de-facto government, organized under the Indigenous principle of leading by obeying the people. Organizing was done by consensus.

APPO members occupied state, local, and federal government offices throughout the city and took over food, water, transportation and communication. The state retaliated with murder, disappearance, rape, torture and police led drive-by shootings. The social movement was eroded for a while.

During this resistance, the “Mexico Indigena mapping project moved its operation to a biologically diverse and mineral-rich region in Oaxaca.

Territory and culture are together in daily life for the indigenous of southern Mexico. Free Trade forces a loss of identity and tradition. There is constant propaganda that devalues Indigenous culture. Mannequins in Oaxaca City are tall, skinny, and very white. The most prevalent cosmetic product sold to indigenous women is skin bleach. We obviously need to reclaim our autonomy, territory and natural identity.

Negating communal land holding is to deny indigenous culture, life and identity. The US knows that our relationship with the land is the biggest threat to the capitalists. Our identity and our birthright is the land. International law dictates that changes can only be made with our full knowledge and consent, which we’ll never give. Removing the artificial borders between Canada, US and Mexico is for the immigrants and foreigners, not us.

BOOBY TRAPPED ROAD TO FASCISM

MNN. June 14 2009. Fascism is when the oligarchs put together enough force to enslave society in the interests of a few. It starts with fervent nationalism. Scapegoats are picked. Genocide is planned. Properties, authority and resources are seized. Territory is expanded.THE LEADER is charismatic and backed by huge corporations. He’s an ideologue with an uncompromising belief system. He seizes power and directs the state to implement his ideas on how the world should operate. He becomes the supreme commander of the armed forces and the high court until a new election is called, if ever.

A strong central government is created under a hard line paternalistic leader. Appointees must submit to him. Rivals are silenced or eliminated through wild unfounded accusations and smear campaigns. Members of the government vote in favor of these measures in return for protection. Otherwise they could be barred from attending sessions.

The constitution is suspended by declaring emergencies. Checks and balances are removed. No questions can be asked. Power is exercised through emergency decrees blamed on an unworkable parliament or congress. Laws and decrees are passed to protect the dictator from criticism, corruption charges, criminal activities and abuse of power. His term becomes indefinite.

Other parties are banned or dissolved. State and provincial governments are abolished.

MILITARY AND PARA MILITARY power takes over the national police and military. Old army officers and reserves are called into service. Stockwell Day suggested that all agents and government employees wear uniforms.

SCAPEGOATS are created. Some are attacked and almost beaten to death. Public anger and frustration are focused on one target who have been labeled terrorists or insurgents to cause hysteria. The military takes them out of the civil court system, i.e. Guantanamo Bay. Their communities are boycotted. Agents are sent in to vandalize their properties and make them look bad. Strict penalties are set for anyone who conducts alleged phony “economic sabotage such as protecting the environment, resources and territories.

PROPAGANDA is brainwashing to support the views of the fascists. The occult or forced conversion to one world religion causes confusion, conformist thinking and escapism. Non-followers can’t get jobs or food or services.

Media and access to information is controlled.

Small groups are infiltrated, especially the youth. Obama has created a youth corps to keep an eye on their parents and neighbors. A snitch line has been set up like the 911, Crime Stoppers and hot lines to spy on anyone anonymously.

Party supporters are sent out to distribute information and to recruit. Frequent meetings are held to feed into the frightened state of mind in troubled times.

Public meetings are stormed. Declarations are made. Destruction of opponents is demanded. Suggestions are made to set up or support a new strict government. Organizers cause dissention inside dissident groups.

Agents set up a coup-like atmosphere like marches and demonstrations. They wear out the people and give police and military practice in controlling and scaring the public.

The state makes decisions over peoples’ lives and gathers information from the cradle to the grave. Microchips from central data banks contain information on medical records, licenses, education, social services, travel, etc.

An ECONOMIC depression is created. If the head of Bank of Canada or Bank of America disagree with the emperor, they are replaced.

Local business interests are forced to cooperate with the fascists. Large multinational companies like Wal Mart are brought in to destroy small businesses.

Appeals are made to the working class, petit bourgeois like bank clerks, middle management and those who are ambitious. They see fascism as a way to rise up in the system and become heads in the new regime. Industrialists, monarchists and the monied class fanatically support fascism. Foreign collaborators, rich authoritarians, opportunists, media moguls and business men finance the party.

Labor unions are brought under control or wiped out.

Economic engineering includes debt flotation and military expansion. Financing is based on currency manipulation including credit debts. High unemployment is maintained. Arms production is accelerated. Built are dams, highways, railroads and civic works like prisons, labor camps and holding facilities for indefinite periods.

More cops are hired. Court workers and judicial officers are increased. Legal aid, social assistance, housing and other social services are cut. Child welfare agencies are given more power to seize children. Prison sentences are longer. Control mechanisms include more probation officers, judicial supervision, conditional sentences and supervisory court orders.

Women stay home. The state takes the kids. The Fuhrer becomes their father. The standard of living is kept down. Wages are reduced. People are told to make sacrifices for the mother land.

AGGRESSIVE LAW AND ORDER campaigns are started to keep the fascists in power. Periodic demonstrations like the Nuremberg rallies are set up so the head honcho can give long confusing public speeches.

HABEAS CORPUS is suspended. Freedom of speech and assembly are suppressed.

REVOLUTIONARY DEALS are kept secret. The people have to be kept asleep so they don’t ask questions.

PRETEXT EVENTS are staged like 911 to justify bringing in anti terrorism laws and repressive measures to take away liberty in the name of security.

FOOD RATIONING is established. Hydroponic centers chemically produce food to replace farmers.

EUGENICS – Get rid of “Useless eatersâ€, anyone who refuses to become part of the laboring or slave class is dispensed with. Pressure is put on people by limiting access to their needs.

WAR – Adjacent territories are taken over and become protectorates as part of empire building. Everybody becomes a citizen of the world under one global order. Cultures and languages are wiped out. Americans and their supporters declare themselves to be carrying out their manifest destiny.

Government must appear to be moderate. Everybody else is being stubborn. While they call for peace, these inhuman tyrants start small local conflicts before going into a large war. If you think this is a conspiracy theory, it’s already happening. Look for yourself!

Oppose CN’s racism and colonialism;

Re: !! Tuesday/mardi (12h): Oppose CN’s racism and colonialism; Liberez le prisonnier politique Mohawk Shawn Brant! (Montreal)[français ci-dessous]

At the August 12, 2007 People’s Global Action (PGA) Consulta to plan actions against the upcoming meeting of Bush/Harper/Calderon and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), the following resolution was passed unanimously:

“We call for the immediate release of Mohawk political prisoner Shawn Brant, without condition; we also re-iterate our support for the self-determination and sovereignty of the Mohawks of Tyendinaga.”

Tangibly, in Montreal, a picket will be held against CN RAIL this Tuesday, August 14 at NOON, at the Central Train Station (more details below). The picket will be denounce CN’s racist lawsuits against Mohawk protesters, including Shawn Brant. We will publicly stand for Shawn Brant’s immediate release from prison.

** Meet at the large departures/arrivals sign in the main lobby of the train station. Bring your banners, placards, flags and other symbols of dissent. **

— We demand that CN Rail drop their racist lawsuits against Mohawk activists at Tyendinaga;
— We stand in support and solidarity with indigenous struggles for sovereignty and self-determination all over Turtle Island;
— We denounce CN Rail’s role in the corporate North American
Competitiveness Council and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP).

“When justice fails, block the rails!”

CN Rail is a multi-billion dollar company, headquartered in Montreal, whose tracks and installations occupy native lands from ocean-to-ocean.

CN Rail is currently pursuing multi-million dollar lawsuits against Mohawk activists from the community of Tyendinaga who are actively involved in the defense of their land.

The Mohawks of Tyendinaga are demanding the return of the Culberston Tract, which was stolen from them in 1832. Recently a portion of the land was reclaimed, with the Tyendinaga community demanding that the Ontario government revoke the license legitimizing a private quarry operation that is literally removing land from the Culberston Tract. For more info, consult:http://ocap.ca/firstnations/tyendinaga/culbertson

CN is threatening more lawsuits against other indigenous communities and activists who block CN rail lines.

CN Rail and their executives are targeting indigenous community organizers who have effectively brought the issue of native sovereignty to the forefront. In the context of unsettled land claims, and the fact that their tracks sit on appropriated native territory, CN Rail’s actions are colonial and racist.

While CN uses the courts to attack native activists, their CEO — E. Hunter Harrison – is a member of the North American Competitiveness Council, a key promoter of the recently formed “Security and Prosperity Partnership” (SPP) between Canada, the United States and Mexico. The SPP continues the imposition of the neo-liberal North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), combined with paranoid “Homeland Security” policies.

The SPP is an attack on all working and oppressed peoples, especially the indigenous peoples of “North America”. The SPP leaders – George Bush, Stephen Harper and Felipe Calderon — will be meeting later this summer, from August 20-21, in Montebello, Quebec (just 90 minutes from Montreal).

Join us on August 14 in Montreal, as we build towards the protests against Bush, Harper and Calderon in Montebello on August 20 (info: www.psp-spp.com )

— Nous dénonçons le rôle du CN dans le Conseil nord-américain pour la prospérité et le Partenariat nord-américain pour la sécurité et la prospérité.

« Quand le CN attaque, on bloque la track! »

“NAFTA SUPER AUTOBAHN” THE ROAD TO HELL?

IS “NAFTA SUPER AUTOBAHN
THE ROAD TO HELL?

MNN. May 18, 2007. The Bush Administration is planning to build a huge Highway from Mexico to Canada. The NAFTA Super “Autobahn will be a four football fields wide car-truck-train-pipeline corridor from Mexico to Canada. It will be a 10-lane limited-access road with tolls. Jerome R. Corsi of “Human Events has written extensively about this project which is being done on the quiet.

The NAFTA autobahn is mainly going to transport our resources from one million square miles of unsurrendered Indigenous land in the northern part of Turtle Island, through the U.S and Mexico to the countries of the Pacific rim.

Then the road will bring containers from the Far East to enter the United States through the Mexican port of Lazaro Cardenas, bypassing the Longshoreman’s Union on the docks of the west coast. The Mexican trucks, without the involvement of the Teamsters Union, will drive on what will be the nation’s most modern highway straight into the heart of Turtle Island. [See attached map]. We see more containers on trains that are miles and miles long coming from California ports heading east. The west coast is one of the places where they want to put unions out of business.

So who benefits? Not the Mexicans! Maybe not even the Americans! Certainly not the Indigenous land and resource owners!

The northeastern route will go along the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River, right through Haudenosaunee territory. Mega bridges to the northern reaches are already planned, one from Kahnawake to Montreal, one over the Ottawa River at Kanehsatake and another from Cornwall over to Akwesasne. Once again we Mohawks are in the way.

The Mexican trucks will cross the border in fast lanes, checked only electronically by the new “SENTRI system. The first customs stop will be a Mexican customs office in Kansas City, known as a “Smart Port, built for Mexico by U.S. taxpayers. Containers from the Far East can be transferred there to trucks going east and west.

Super roads are not a new idea. In 1933 Hitler and the Nazis finished the German “autobahn during the Third Reich. It linked north and south Germany. It was promoted as creating jobs. It was actually built mostly by Russian prisoners of war. The military was involved in the planning to provide mobility for the movement of their troops and weaponry. They were designed with auxiliary airports with aircraft hidden in tunnels or camouflaged in nearby woods. [We don’t know what military auxiliary will be built alongside the NAFTA autobahn].

In the end the German autobahn was useless during most of the war due to a shortage of gas and lack of trucks. Tanks and trucks were hard on the fragile surface. Much of the road was bombed. The bulk of the military traffic, men and material ended up being transported by rail. Eisenhower was inspired by the German Autobahn and created a U.S. interstate highway system in 1956.

The concession for the tolls on the Texas portion of the NAFTA Autobahn was leased to a Spanish firm, “Cintra Concesiones de infra. Rudy “911 Giuliani’s law firm represents Cintra exclusively. The state of Texas was paid $2.1 billion up front and $700 million yearly for 50 years. “Rudy Guiliani Capital Advisors has been bought out by “Macquarrie, an Australian Consortium which leases and operates U.S. and Canadian toll roads. It can be presumed that the whole corridor will be a private toll road which will need a private military force to protect it.

“Euro Money Seminars of the UK is teaching state and local U.S. governments how to lease public assets such as highways, water works, prisons and schools to international investment groups. One of Giuliani’s firms, “Giuliani and Partners, has a component for leasing out private police forces.

President Bush does not appear to be anxious to secure the Mexican border. Maybe he has to create express lanes first for the Mexican trucks that will be bringing containers into the heart of the U.S., to bypass U.S. union workers on the docks or in the trucks. 90% of trucking is now non-union because of government union busting.

The only places where the unions are still strong are in major financial industrial cities like New York, Boston, Pittsburgh and Chicago. For example, fabricated steel coming in from non-union fabricators have to go to New Jersey, reload onto union trucks and then are driven into New York City by the Teamsters Union.

It’s to kill off whatever is left of the unions. It’s to steal our resources. It’s to stop indigenous protest. It’s to eliminate anyone who wants to prevent the reestablishment of the oligarcic cultural elite who want to treat the rest of us like slaves.

To get the public’s [forced] “cooperation of those cities and towns that are in the way of the corridor, large corporations are being shut down, such as Domtar in Cornwall Ontario and General Motors in Massena New York. A few hundred million dollars has been taken out of the economy on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border. Lost jobs will lower house and property values which can then be grabbed cheaply or easily expropriated by NAFTA under the “eminent domain stealing act.

The public is mostly unaware of the coming North American Union that is planned for the United States, Canada and Mexico. Various U.S. government and state agencies and scores of private NGOs (non-governmental organizations) are working behind the scenes to create this highway. The U.S. government has set up an office in the Department of Commerce called the “SPP Office for “Security and Prosperity Partnership. The SPP Agreement was signed by Bush, President Vicente Fox, and then-Prime Minister Paul Martin in Waco, Tex., on March 23, 2005.

CN Rail and CP Rail in Canada are part of this. Let’s see how lucrative it is for them to steal our resources and to cooperate with multinational corporations and the governments they control. As of February 2007, the President and CEO of CN make more than the directors and senior management who make 2.2% of all outstanding shares. This is about $30 million. You can bet that when dividend time comes, they won’t be eating Kraft Dinner like the Indigenous people they stole the land and trust funds from to build the rail empire.

CN has had record profits on the backs of employees who were fired thus resulting in safety issues. A newly appointed vice-president and chief safety officer was created to address derailments and toxic spills. Many railroad engineers have died due to poor maintenance all in the name of $$$.

This autobahn will not benefit Turtle Island. It is a corridor to carry resources that are being stolen from us. It is transported through the U.S. to Mexico and then put it on ships to China and elsewhere. It appears like the U.S. public will not get anything out of it either. The investors and profiteers use U.S., Mexican and Canadian fronts on their various boards.

Until 1999, the land in the north of Turtle Island was administered by the Canadian government. Then a “government was set up similar to a band council, with no authority over resources. This control is still held by the federal government which can make deals to sell it all off to multinational corporations.

This is a stupid plan. How will they defend such a long road? These extremes of self-centered despotism are not new. They have risen many times before. 2000 years ago the Han Dynasty in China forced people to do a lot of road work for almost nothing. The penalty for arriving late for work was death. Finally, when a river flooded and the people could not get to work on time, they rebelled and brought the dynasty down. Despotism always falls down in the end. This senseless project is doomed from the start. In the meantime the people will suffer a lot while the abuse builds itself up to the breaking point.

If this megalomaniac nonsense isn’t questioned right now people can go through decades or even a century of suffering. The U.S. was founded on egalitarian principles they learned from the Haudenosaunee/Iroquois. The U.S. constantly forgets its inspirational sources. When Europeans arrived on our shores they were huddled masses yearning to be free. They were dirty, malnourished and abused. Now they abuse us.

It’s time for everyone to throw off the shackles of abuse. We have to assert our rights, participate, share and laugh. We were not born to be slaves to corporate greed.

“I hear the train a coming”

“THE ONLY GOOD INDIAN IS A JAILED INDIAN”.
PRIVATIZATION OF INDIANS AND PRISONS

MNN. Oct. 19, 2006. Howard Saper, the Ombudsman for Inmates, just came out with a report on the state of Indigenous prisoners. He said the incarceration rate for Indigenous people was nine times higher than for the Canadian population, even though we are 1.5 per cent of the population. The numbers are even worse for Indigenous women. One in three inmates in federally-run women’s prisons was Indigenous. Half are in maximum security institutions. One reason is because there was “routine over classification” of native prisoners. At least we’re higher class in something, eh!

So their family, community, friends and elders are robbed of their presence. They are sent more often into segregation and don’t get rehabilitative treatment so they can be released. Parole is not even a consideration.

Any lawyer will tell you that when someone looks native, they are more likely to be found guilty. Does that mean we have to powder our faces white when we go out in public?

Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day rejected the report and said, “There is no evidence of systemic discrimination against native offenders in the prison system”. Is he telling us that he went to visit a jail one time and they didn’t complain to him? To him they all seem to be happy, like they never had it so good. A major problem with our people is that we don’t lie. We’re basically hospitable, honest and don’t B.S. our way out of the system. We have a hard time conning anybody. We even tell the truth on ourselves. We are apt to accept responsibility if we did a wrong. We are taken advantage of over what they think is our “character flaw”. Most of our people who go to jail are involved in bar fights and actions related to alcohol.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is introducing the “three strikes you’re out” and “you’re-going-to-jail-for-the-rest-of-your-life” legislation aimed at increasing the prison population. He says he wants to protect the “Canadian” way of life. Isn’t the Canadian way of life to be fair? Or is this a take on the old genocidal proclamations allowing British subjects in Nova Scotia to kill all Indian men, women, children and even babies? Let’s not forget that the first prisons were built in Prince Albert right after they hung Louis Riel for defending democracy. As far as we’re concerned it’s the same, old same old.

“If you do a serious crime, you’re going to do serious time”, Harper declared. He’s aiming at “violent offenders” like the Indigenous people. They want to go after spontaneous instinctive behavior which is done without premeditation. They are usually ashamed and do their time without complaint.

How about all those corrupt politicians? What about white collar criminals who steal millions and get away with it? Generally speaking it is considered worse if someone plans a crime. Slimy politicians, liars and deceivers who rob people of millions of dollars are not the targets of Harper’s law, even though they do more harm to society. What about contractors who skim on public works like overpasses that kill innocent people? A violent offense usually takes place between two individuals. In such cases the cops can easily set them up for two more charges and have them put away forever. What a weapon in the hands of the cops!

Imagine “super jails” run for profit by private companies eager to cash in on Harper’s plans to get tougher on crime.

Stockwell Day has made private security companies jump for joy. They are gloating over the “jackpot” they are going to hit by putting our people in jail. They just have to ask, “What’s your band number?” to get the payment from Indian Affairs. Harper is trying to convince Canadians that private prisons are cheaper so he can call on his private sector friends to build and operate them. This is part of the U.S. pro-privatization ideology adopted by the Conservative government. He will try wherever he can to turn over a growing range of public services to private operators, most of whom are his friends and backers.

It will be a for-profit business paid for by the tax payers. It looks like Indian Affairs can easily transfer $50,000 to $60,000 a head to these private prisons. Jailing Indians is big business. It’s a “cash cow” for the provinces which can get huge transfer payments from the federal government for every Indigenous inmate. They don’t get nothin’ for non-native inmates. That’s why it’s real attractive to keep us in jail.

At the same time the Conservative government has announced that Indian communities are going to be privatized. They want our communities to be run by corporations and trust companies for which the bottom line is profit. Band councils are now, for the most part, corporations which are being taken over by auditing firms such as PriceWaterhouse.

We’ve been giving the federal and provincial governments and corporations a hard time over theft of our lands and resources. They want to control us. They’ve figured out a way. They are going to privatize us and let the multinational corporations move in for a feast. We won’t know what’s going on with our money or anything. Corporations, of course, will want to cut costs so they can make a bigger profit. So our standard of living will go down, as if this is possible. If we don’t pay our mortgage or our taxes, the corporation will be able to seize our land and possessions.

Strange as it may seem, Canadians have never thought of registering mortgages against Newfoundland or British Columbia. So why do they think they can do this with with our land? The bluff and hypocrisy supporting this scheme is transparent. It’s meant to dispossess us.

It’s called the “Indian business”. In Kanehsatake PriceWaterhouse took over from James Gabriel who deliberately mismanaged the funds and affairs of the community. Every program and service was cut back. There was a lot “streamlining” or skimming off the top so there would be more for the corporation. $34 million is basically unaccounted for so far. Hey, Canada, did you ever wonder why your taxes are so high!

Trust companies will make money on privatizing our communities. The government will put up $50,000 a head and blow up the population figures to feed the corporate gluttons. They will do this in the jail system too. They want big jails full of Indians. We will be marketed on the stock exchange for the public to invest in our jails and our corporate controlled communities. The politicians will offer patronage plums to their friends to be trustees over Indigenous communities and jails. Why do they need to victimize us? Why don’t they just write checks to their friends? Do they think Canadians and Americans are so dumb they don’t know what’s going on?

The more they can cause mismanagement of band councils and criminalizing of Indians, the more justification there is for taking over Indigenous communities and putting us in jail. According to their business plan, warehousing Indians is a growth industry!

The United States corporations want to bring this system in. Is that the reason for that big agreement between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico called “deep integration?” They’re streamlining everything economically under a central control of 130 CEO’s who will make all the decisions for Harper, Bush and Fox.

In all of this, they are violating international law. Our incarcerated Indigenous inmates are not even citizens of Canada or the United States. They are from their own nations. They come under their own laws. This is like Guantanamo Bay!

Let’s think of how much the trustees of the Six Nations of Grand River Corporation would get under such privatization – $1.1 billion per year. Just think of the salaries for the CEO’s! Of course, there might not be anything left for the people. But, hey, since when did we count?

Mexican standoff

The following appeal is from one of our readers in the South. They are in the same struggle as us. Please lend them your support.Greetings Friends:I am contacting interested friends to ask your help in bringing an increased national and international eye to the critical situation in Oaxaca, where the
potential for an imminent violent blow-up is very high.

The good news from Oaxaca is that the people are standing firm against the formal announcement this morning from President Fox and Abascal, the Secretary of the Interior, that troops will be sent into Oaxaca, pending “approval” from Fox, which
locals feels is a given. There is rumor that one plane has arrived.

The people are barricading the city today and are planning their defense. The general strike planned for Thursday and Friday, is still scheduled- this will be a complete shut down of the city, all business, universities, and offices closed.

This is a pronouncement from Oaxaca, Mexico where the teacher’s strike has become a united people’s movement for basic human rights:

Pronouncement

The National Indigenous Congress CNI) “recognizes, salutes and is part of the movement of sisters and brothers of the 16 Indigenous Communities of Oaxaca. The un-postponable renouncement of Ulises Ruiz would put an end to impositions; it would result in respect and recognition of the autonomy and free determination of our Oaxacan Indigneous Communities and to the cancellation of the mega-privatization projects in the south of Mexico”.

In the Declaration of Cheran, the CNI demands the immediate liberation of Indigenous political prisoners of San Salvador Atenco and Oaxaca,
who “continue experiencing a repugnant show of “governability”, in our country. They cannot continue being political prisoners at the imposition
of neoliberal projects on our lands and territories”.

This information if translated from The Jornada out of Mexico City; Ulises Ruiz is no longer recognized by the people as the governor of the state of Oaxaca, and cannot freely walk the streets, much less govern. AMF

Some ideas: spread the word throughout the global Indigenous support networks, call radio and TV stations, newspapers and magazines, request an update on Oaxaca, and tell them what is happening; contact churches, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch; post flyers about the situation, contact Democracy Now, the only national news program with any regular information on Oaxaca, for their schedule of reports
on Oaxaca and post it as well as send it to interested people by internet; use the internet to spread the word; contact congress people, please include us in your prayers.

4000 teachers continue the walk they started last thursday from Oaxaca to Mexico City to bring yet more attention to the crisis, though Oaxaca currently dominates Mexican news. Its more than curious that we hear nothing in this in the U.S. Nor
anything about the fact that Mexico currently has two president-elects as a result of the recent fraudulent election, Andres Manuel Lopez Obredor, who has the support of the people, and Felipe Calderon, elected through Choice Point, the same company that managed Florida during the last presidential election in the U.S.

There is plenty of current information available to those who read spanish through the La Jornada, Oaxacos Citricos; and less in English from John Ross, Narco News, even some headlines through Google.

Gracias, thank you.

Un abrazote,

Ann Miller Frances

Canada wants back Ahenakew’s Order of Canada medal.

MNN. Nov. 8, 2005. Canada wanted David Ahenakew’s Order of Canada medal, back. It’s the colonial honor they bestowed on him for being an “obedient Indian”. What they really want is a ceremony where the Governor General of Canada yanks the medal off his chest and slaps his face. That would make them feel better. Then they don’t have to look at their own disgusting behavior and actions towards Indigenous people. They like to pick faults with us. That way they don’t have to confront their own flaws or do anything about the plight of our people.Ahenakew, a WWII veteran, is the Indigenous man who uttered what the politicians, media and court decided were “anti-Semitic” remarks in a private conversation with a reporter of the Saskatoon Star Phoenix.Canada gave him the medal to signify that he had served the Queen and Canada well. Giving medals is an old colonial ploy to co-opt leaders among the Indigenous people and to pacify them while they’re stealing our property and resources. The colonizers like to imagine that Indian chiefs were keen to wear their gaudy medals and paraphernalia because they were attracted to glitter. Nothing could be further from the truth. We posed for those awkward photos just to be polite and have a good laugh. Usually the coats didn’t fit. Those scrawny malnourished hunch-shouldered Englishmen couldn’t imagine how fit and self-confident Indigenous men were.

Such a fake “honor” puts an Indigenous person above his own people. It violates the egalitarian nature of Indigenous culture. Ahenakew may even have felt uncomfortable about this honor given to him by the colonial masters. Could he subconsciously have wanted to get rid of it? (I wouldn’t take it because everybody would think I was a sell-out.) When one of our people receives this kind of “recognition”, we always wonder what Indigenous right they gave away or what compromises they made. Now he’s finding his way back without this medal weighing him down.

Nobody should make light of the suffering of the Jewish people. Is the perception they suffered more significant than the persecution suffered by anybody else? All people should be treated equally. Nobody should be persecuted.

Why is the holocaust suffered by Indigenous peoples being swept under the rug, forgotten, denied or belittled? It has been going on for over four centuries. It has never stopped. Canada killed off most of us, stole our resources and refuses to deal with us on an equal nation-to-nation basis. Why don’t Canadians acknowledge and repudiate the sins of their ancestors? They have never prosecuted anyone for constantly spreading misinformation through all their institutions about our true rights and history.

Canada made claim to Dave Ahenakew. They said he represented Indigenous people. He certainly never represented me or my independent Nation. He was a chief under the illegal Indian Act, which violates Section 109 of the British North America Act. At one time he headed the National Indian Brotherhood, now known as the Assembly of First Nations (AFN). This government-funded and controlled organization of band council puppets carries out the agenda of the Canadian government and the genocide of the Indigenous people. They make sure that the true constitution-to-constitution relationships between the Indigenous peoples and Canada is ignored.

It is doubtful that Dave Ahenakew hates Jews. Did he have to do something outrageous to lose his colonial badge? The dominant society no longer has any use for him. So they will put him back where he is comfortable, with the Indigenous people.

Why the fuss over medals? Canada is currently sending out medals to elderly World War II veterans. Once again Canada is tagging behind the United States. Both are glorifying war because they want more youth to enlist in the military. A television news item shows a woman in her office in Ottawa with shelves of plastic boxes full of new medals (probably made in China). When she gets a letter, she boxes them and sends them out to the soldiers who request them.

What can Dave Ahenakew now do with that medal? He could melt it down and make spurs for his cowboy boots!
