At the last minute on Tuesday, November 7, we Iroquois found out there was an exhibit opening at the Calliere Museum in Old Montreal. It was on the “Mysterious Disappearance of the St. Lawrence Valley Iroquois”. They wish! Four of us from Kahnawake, Kanehsatake and Tyendinaga decided to go and look it over.

We were curious as to how they got the idea that we had “disappeared” or that there was any mystery to be solved. How would anyone feel if their so-called demise was advertised and put on exhibit? It’s like finding yourself invited to your own funeral when you’re not dead. It really bugged us. Can you understand? It felt like a death threat. It reminded us of the way we were all told at school that our moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, everyone were all going to die out. We cried. By now we know a terrorist threat when we see one.

We arrived around noon in Old Montreal. The banner outside indicated that this was sponsored by a whole bunch of Quebec, Canadian and international corporations. We were almost the first visitors there. Instead of welcoming us as the long lost Iroquois, they treated US as though we were spoiling their party. The man at the front desk told us we had to pay $12 to go into the wake. We suggested that since we had disappeared and were ghosts in their eyes, we should be allowed in for free. Suddenly he started to speak only French to us. This is when we started to talk only in Mohawk to him. He got mad and started punching the cash register. Eventually, after arguing about the taxes on the ticket, we could see the only way to get around this extortionist was to pay him off. Then we went up to the second floor.

What we saw was a gross rip off not just for us but for the ignorant public that they hoped to ensnare with their fake account of Mohawk Iroquois history.

Some of the corporate conspirators of these deceptions were the National Archives of Canada, the Birmingham Public Library, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, some patrimonie organization from Sorel Quebec, the Quebec Conservation Department, the National Archives of France, the National Capital Commission of Quebec, the ghost longhouse at remade tourist town of St. Anicet, the Gilcrease Museum of Tulsa Oklahoma, the Huntington Library of San Marino California, Jefferson County Historical Society of Watertown NY, McCord Museum of Montreal, McGill University Osler Library, Michel Crepeau of France, Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications, MODIS Rapid Response Project of NASA, Montreal Botanical Gardens, Quebec Museum of Civilization, National Science Foundation of North Arlington Virginia, New York State Museum of Albany, Point-de-Buisson Archaeological Park, State Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg Russia, Trustees of the British Museum, Department of Agriculture in Washington and the University of Montreal. Yep, there you go! A whole bunch of people want us dead. Here we are, raining on their parade.

Why was NASA involved? Maybe they think we came from outer space! Or maybe that’s where they want to send us. Each of these entities must have had one little item to show that we had disappeared. Somebody had a big travel budget to visit all these bastions of colonial tradition.

The museum had the cash to rack up record numbers of air miles. Somehow they just couldn’t find the time to stop in Kahnawake or Kanehesatake on their way to the airport. Of course, the hour’s drive to Akwesasne would have been out of their way. When we asked why, they said they did speak to one young fella in Kahnawake about this, by phone! It wasn’t long distance so that was in their budget. They couldn’t ask us because, in their minds, we had mysteriously disappeared. Their tour guide told us, “You are different Iroquois”, and “our scientists have archaeological evidence that backs up our claims”.

“Yes”, we said, “lots of people used to think the earth was flat”.

So, there! Apparently, even though we had disappeared, our horticulture lives on in the “descendants”! Isn’t this a contradiction?

On Sunday Oct. 3rd 1535 Cartier visited Hochelaga at the foot of what they call Mount Royal. He drew longhouses, a central square like in Spain, with avenues and maybe even street signs. There was a shaman’s house who lived apart from the “mere mortals”. Lol!

We apparently left Montreal before Cartier arrived for his second visit and were gone for good by the time Champlain came. Don’t they know we have relatives all over turtle island,  the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence Valley, New York State and every where. We loved to travel too and go visiting. Myth busted! Another reason we left temporarily for 75 to 100 years was to leave the ground to fallow. Our idea was to use the ground and when it was getting depleted of minerals and nourishment, we would plant orchards, take down our villages and then move to our next site for 20 or so years. We had 4 to 5 regular sites. It would take us 80 to 100 years to complete a rotation. By the time we returned, the earth would have regained its nourishment. We don’t put down hundreds of thousands of pounds of potassium nitrate to mock what the earth does naturally. This modern practice is destroying the earth. We certainly didn’t expect a bunch of foreigners to move in and defile it with asphalt and all the other pollution that has made this once beautiful place now toxic and infertile for agriculture or man.

We were here when Champlain came in 1607. “I won’t look at them so I can say I didn’t see them’, said Champlain. They suggested we were the victims of diseases or a “Little Ice Age” that began around 1450? Then they said, “It was “intertribal warfare”. Their evidence for this is that we built “defensive palisades” around our villages. Well, we did grow our medicines right next to our longhouses and we erected these fences to keep out the creatures who might want to come and disturb them. We also had 3000 years or more peace until the settler colonists brought their incessant warfare here.

We notice they sprinkled words throughout their texts like “appeared”, “might have”, “may be”, “probably” and “it would appear”. Their lawyers advised them to do this so we can’t sue the pants off them for lying about us. They don’t want to acknowledge us because they say that the land was for the taking because nobody was here. This is coming from a culture that has no stewardship for the land. So where did we come from, under some rocks?

One exhibit entitled “To Pop or Not to Pop” is about pop corn, corn soup and all the cooking skills we had. They did not mention that corn, beans and squash, the Three Sisters”, provided all the nutrition one needed to live a healthy life. We got these at the beginning according to our creation story. They found we iera’kwah Iroquois were in the Bay of Gaspe and elsewhere. Cartier found us with corn like he had seen in Brazil. He said that this had convinced us to give up our nomadic life and settle down. [The invaders are nomads. This exhibit shows no sign that they were invited here.]

Most of the articles on display were about little pieces from pipes, pots and who knows what. They were tiny and under glass with texts on a red or white background in French first and then English. Nothing in Mohawk! Maybe they think that our communication with creation is not relevant. After all, it’s their theory that we disappeared.

Really misleading was info that the clan mothers led the families and selected the chiefs. The people tell the clan mothers and chiefs what to do and say. The power is with the people. A true democracy! Their sham democracy doesn’t want to say that.

They refer to the “Creator”, implying we believed in their god. Our philosophy is based on our knowledge of the natural world and creation. Gariwiio is the perfect reality which is nature. The kasatstenera kowa sa oiera is the great natural power which we can see and know exists. We have many symbols for the stories that we passed down to remind us of our history, who we are and where we belong. Here.

They minimize our culture down to making offerings of tobacco and sacrificing dogs and eating them. [They sacrificed people and ate them.] In the glass were the bones of a dog. We did not use shamans to contact any forces. Each of us made our relationships with and respect for the natural world and developed our awareness ourselves. 

The shaman did not suck out the evil or sickness from a person. There was no evil when everything was part of the natural equilibrium. Holy hell! This is completely manufactured probably by a bunch of priests who are trying to hit up people for money. “The shaman would gaze into the fire and go into a trance by dancing, chanting, fasting or sitting in a sweat lodge”. We did not have shamans or sweat lodges. Where did this come from? It’s one of those phony Indian Affairs healing programs being used to pacify us? We were almost tempted to ask where the brown Baby Jesus in the cradle was.

Cartier said we loved games and gambling. Is that why they built the Montreal casino nearby? They found a lot of different colored potsherds in their digs, which they think might be ripped up off-track betting slips or one armed bandit claim chits. We did have the peach pit game in a wooden bowl played by clans to decide who was going to win the gifts and do all the work until the next festival.

They definitely found no evidence that we played lacrosse. They want to steal this as a Canadian invented game just like hockey. Hockey comes from the expression “a-kee”, which means “ouch” when they hit each other with their sticks. It was played between villages as it is today.

As for fashion, they said that we ran around naked except for small skins to cover our privates! In the cold! Are they kidding? If we went naked, we bared it all. Afterwards, we did cover ourselves to protect us from European perverts.

We made necklaces from recycled pipe stems [that we got from the second hand stores in Old Montreal?] They said that wampum beads were the most precious item we possessed in the whole wide world. All Iroquois men smoked. Did they examine our lungs? We burnt tobacco for ceremonial purposes apparently until Cartier arrived. They say we started to smoke like chimneys like those French Canadians who drive over to our communities today. They’re all pale and desperate to buy cheap native cigarettes. It states that ‘native’ tobacco appeared in the new world in 800 AD and in Montreal in 1300. They know this because they found a whole lot of pipes dating from that time. Was this on one of the pipe stems they found? How do they know it was tobacco being smoked? Who was Cartier trying to impress. He just wanted to raise money to make another trip over here in his search for gold, the fool!

This is a pitiful exhibit. Cartier said that Iroquois women were industrious and the men were lazy. He called us “nomadic”. How would he know? He hung around the women and didn’t go with the men into the forests or on trading, hunting and diplomatic expeditions. Who’s the lazy lewd bugger here?

We wondered what all this was leading up to? Yep! The colonists found a new archaeological site at Cap Rouge River – “the remains of the very first French settlement in America”. Hoo-ray! Lots of money for diggers! It was apparently the fort built by Cartier in 1541 where he spent that winter. This is where the king had ordered a white colony be built. They found sherds of Italian faience. Wow! The public can see all this in 2006. This is how long it will take to manufacture the ancient artifacts they will put on display and celebrate 400 years of settler colonization.

We complained to the guide that we had not disappeared, that he was not staring at ghosts, that this whole exhibit was misleading and that we are definitely still here. In other words, we were unconvinced by the story of our death. Excited and anxious, security was summoned. We were followed around for a bit. Then a short little women sergeant appeared and told us that the museum would refund our money [but no lunch].

We’d prefer they shut down this travesty. Or if the public sees it, they should be told it’s a fictional representation meant to mislead the public and justify settler colonization. Cartier was just a hack explorer like the heroes of the Harlequin romances. There were lots of Europeans over here before him. But they didn’t try to scam the nobility at home into financing their misadventures.

For sure the myth of the disappearing Iroquois has been busted.

MNN. Mar. 4, 2020. We peacefully took down our month long train blockade in Kahnawake in support of our family, the wetsuweten. The people’s original fire by the CPR tracks has been moved near the highway 132 approach to the Mercier Bridge. It is a people’s movement, each of us equally exercising our power and voice to uphold the great peace. Our community unified. Communities worldwide join us.  Native and non-natives stopped the trains from THE east to west coast to support the westuweten. We continue to stand with our family.

Our people, friends and allies stood together against Canada because we all have the same basic human right of respect, honor and truth, which is the basis of the kaianerekowa, great peace. The ongoing 500 year genocide of us and our land has to stop now. The late chief wahtahkwets [Pat Namox] said, “It is up to us to create a new memory in the minds of our children”. 

This is a collision of right versus wrong. The people of Kahnawake united [Mohawk Council, the two longhouses and the Peace Keepers]. Now Canada has to deal with the people, the true traditional caretakers of turtle island. It is owned by our unborn children and can never be transferred or sold to anybody. 

The Quebec Police, the RCMP, even the army, CP Rail supported this blockade. CPR got an injunction but never served it because it was the right thing for them to do. 

We took action in peace. The onus is on Canada to negotiate in good faith, to respect our natural right to our land, which is to care for our mother and all life on turtle island. We cared that Canadians and people worldwide stood with us. 

Even now Canada and its agents are aggressive and threatening, always ready to pull out guns and point them at us. They hope the talks will not accomplish anything. Study UNDRIP [United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People] which Canada must adopt without amendments. Once Canada respects all the sovereign rights of the wetsuweten, it is the precedent for all of turtle island.  

According to the only law of ononwarekeh [turtle island], whenever there is a need, we are there for each other. The fight for the recognition and respect of Indigenous rights is a marathon, not a sprint. Our duties to turtle island and our people will never stop. As the trains pass by, we will always pursue our responsibilities, tewatatawi. We exist beyond our communities. Our actions are based on the kaianerekowa, the great peace, the only law of the land. The original fire by the tracks has been moved to highway 132 ramp onto the Mercier Bridge.

Fats Waller wrote the 1930 song the “Sunny Side of the Street” which reflects our victory: “Grab your coat and get your hat. Leave your worry on the doorstep. Just direct your feet to the sunny side of the street. If I never have a cent I’d be rich as Rockefeller. Gonna set my feet on the sunny side fo the street”.

INDIAN AFFAIRS RAT TRAP

MNN. Nov. 3, 2019. What is Canada? Nothing but a military occupation of onkwehonweh land run through Indian Affairs which is a department of the army. 

In 1968 some kanionkehaka’onwe [Mohawks} went to Ottawa to protest the dumping of garbage in Kahnawake by 33 Montreal municipalities.  Indian Affairs called it a “Sanitary Land Fill”, run by the mob. We wanted to show how Canada as our so-called trustees allowed hundreds of thousands of acres of land, water and toxic garbage to set off underground fires and poisons. 

WE RATS CAME OVER HERE ON THE SHIPS TO HELP KILL & POPULATE. NOW WE HAVE TO GO BACK WITH THEM.

The kanionkehaka captured mice and rats in their houses. They took them to a meeting at Indian Affairs, which was located in Ottawa at the time. During the meeting, the rats accidentally escaped from their carton and ran into hiding. Then they started mating and destroyed the building.  

In 1973 one of the onkwehonweh who delivered the rodents got a job in the department. 

In 1978 Canada constructed a new 27 story building in Hull, now called Gatineau. Everything was quietly moved into the new building. This was during the Quebec separatist movement. At the time we natives discussed the possibility of corporate separation by the Quebecois. The separatists put a secret plan in motion to take over Canada.

INDIAN AFFAIRS AT 10 WELLINGTON IN GATINEAU WHERE THE STOLEN NATIVE LOOT IS KEPT. 

Indian Affairs is the most important department and building of the corporation of the government of Canada. Every document recording the theft of turtle island, our land throughout Canada, is registered and filed in that building. Also all resource extraction documents are filed there. The records of all the assets that were  stolen from the natives by the government are at 10 Wellington in Gatineau.

Recently after Quebec won 32 seats in the 2019 federal election, the Party Quebecois declared they are not part of Canada but are declaring Quebec is a separate nation. Upon this corporate separation, all documents going back 200 to 300 years will be held outside of Canada and controlled by Quebec. They can burn or shred them or change the text.

In 1978 Pierre Trudeau gave those buildings to Quebec. In any dispute between Canada and Quebec, Quebec will control all land and resources across Canada.

Trudeau Sr. planted the seeds. In 1968 we warned the world what would happen when we released those rats in the building. They took over the Department of Indian Affairs.

RIGHT NOW THE “WAR ROOM” ON THE 14TH FLOOR OF INDIAN AFFAIRS IS RUN BY THE CANADIAN MILITARY. THE QUEBEC ARMY WILL TAKE OVER.The world knows that 100% of onowarekeh, turtle island, is native land and there are no actual countries of “Quebec” or “Canada”. The bankers of the city of London own both corporations known as “Canada” and the “United States of America”. They suck the life out of turtle island. Our mother earth and creation are pushing back. At first we welcomed the invaders. Now they have us squeezed so tight we can’t even breath. The sky world and the peace will return. 

The Byrds have a great song about how time will fix this situation for us, mother earth and creation: “To every thing turn, turn, turn. There’s a season, turn, turn, turn. And a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to be born. A time to die. A time to plan. A time to reap. A time to kill. A time to heal. A time to laugh. A time to weep…”.

The great peace taught us to go into our minds and reveal beautiful things about us and our connection with creation.  This is the good road we try to keep clean. The immigrants are always threatening our existence with their preaching of fear and death.

We are mandated forever to uphold the kaianerekowa, the great peace, by any means necessary. They need to return to their homeland.  

We don’t trust the invaders. We will be who we are. The illegal immigrants can never be us.  They will aways be squatters. They want to sell everything, even the stars.  They want to exploit outer space after destroying our mother earth.

MNN. kahnawake indian day school. June 10,  2019. The Indian day School was a genocide program designed by the immigrants to assimilate, destroy our culture, take the Indian out of the onkwehonweh [the true natural people of turtle island], or kill us.

Many moons ago every morning the whole Indian day school captives [run by the corporation of the Government of Canada] were herded into the fourth grade classroom where the piano was. The children had to stand against the wall. The principle, Mr. Rawlings, would signal the pianist to start playing, and everybody was suppose to sing “God Save the Queen”. Nobody would sing. Then Mr. Rawlings, a recent World War II vet, would yell at the kids, “You have to sing “God Save the Queen”. He ordered the kids to open their mouthes. The pianist would start playing again. Not a sound. She started 4 or 5 more times. They still wouldn’t sing.

ANOTHER FACE-OFF WITH MR. RAWLINGS.

Mr. Rawlings ordered, “You have to stand in front of the class and you are going to sing with me, “God Save the Queen”, or listen to me sing. They did not sing and did not listen to him. Mr. Rawlilngs jumped at them combat style, grabbed some of them and smacked them on the black board, screaming “Sing God Save the Queen”. A scuffle started.

Big Six, the cop, rushed there to investigate what happened. He sent everybody home. Afterwards Big Six went directly to each parent and told them about it. They didn’t understand. He tried to scare them. They could be suspended, or be sent to residential school, or reform school or get adopted out [for not singing “God Save the Queen”?]

MNN. May 21, 2019. This is a response to a condolence letter from Martin Reiher, Assistant Deputy Minister, on Crown-Indigenous Relations & Northern Affairs Canada letterhead, without a date or address. A March 17 2019 letter was filed questioning the injustice of the proposed settlement of the McLean v. Attorney General of Canada on the Indian Day Schools travesty committed by Canada. The 3 minute objection filed in the federal court in Winnipeg is at the end.

INDIAN DAY SCHOOL TEACHINGS!

1. GowlingWLG is the lawyer for the native victims in the class action suit against Canada. GowlingWLG  is negotiating for $55,000,000 plus $7 million attorney fees from our opponents, Canada. We the Plaintiffs’ are kept out of the payment.  

2.If the federal court approves the settlement, Canada will pay our lawyer GowlingWLG for ‘resolving’ the class action, which was done by McLean v. Attorney General lawyers in 2009. GowlingWLG came on in 2016. The fees affect the total settlement, which is a conflict of interest. They should withdraw from the case. 

3.GowlingWLG is trying to convince the Court to approve the requested legal fees from our opponent, Canada, as though GowlingWLG is working  for Canada. 

4.The attorney fees are normally part of the settlement agreement to be paid to us by our opponents, Canada. Both parties are trying to convince the court to approve this payment. The entire settlement should be paid to the native victims, who then distribute it to the victims and lawyers.

5.$55,000,000 equals 27 lawyers working full time only on this case for 1 year, at $1,000 an hour for 55,000 hours; or 1 lawyer working full time only on this case for 27.5 years. 

6.GowlingWLG ignored the complaints or circumstances of the objectors. They advised most of us to fill out the Objector’s Form from the internet and email it to GowlingWLG. The proposed settlement was never explained nor presented to us.  GowlingWLG must withdraw from representing the objectors. 

7.We are one people. Hurting one hurts us all. GowlingsWLG is conspiring with Canada to control a 5 level ‘torture gravity’ settlement. This places Canada and GowlingWLG in conflict with all victims.  Lawyers and perpetrators cannot advocate different compensation for different Plaintiffs. GowlingWLG must recuse from representing all Plaintiffs.

8.GowlingWLG opposed their own clients in open Court on May 13-14-15 2019 in Winnipeg, inferring that we were wrong to object or did not understand. GowlingWLG fears that we are placing the attorney fees in jeopardy! Withdrawal and disciplinary proceedings are required against the lawyers.

9.GowlingWLG became involved in the case in 2016, which started in 2009. They did not resolve this case. Liability for the crimes was conceded by the Prime Minister and Canada. All that is left is to pay compensation to the victims. The original lawyers are not being paid. 

10.GowlingWLG and our opponents Canada decided to give each of us $10,000. 

11.One family drove 3 days to have a say in court.They were given 3 minutes to present their objection. GowlingWLG had at least 1 and ½ hours afterwards to criticize and oppose the objections of their clients, violating our best interests.

“I attended Indian day school in Kahnawake, starting in 1946. For the record, I think the proposed settlement is unreasonable.  But I am not opposed to compensation for this planned atrocity by [the corporation called] the Government of Canada.

Canada’s goal was and is always the extinction of the natives through assimilation, as outlined in the Indian Act, Indian Lands Acts of October 25th 1924 and other acts. Indian Day Schools are part of the genocide plan.

The [5 tier] “harm grid” is insulting and will cause damage in our communities. Canada has admitted its crimes [and has the list of their victims], so why make us relive the traumas. It is a conflict for the lawyers and the guilty party  to decide the various amounts that victims will receive. 

This genocide program was applied equally to all of us. We are one people. You hurt one, you hurt us all. Abuse is abuse. We should be directly compensated equally starting at $200,000.00 each. 

I heard about this compensation package on the radio and contacted GowlingWLG myself. Through most of this process GowlingWLG ignored me, which humiliated me. No help from them whatsoever. I got my official notice impersonally by tweet to appear here late Friday afternoon while my family and I were on the road from kahnawake.

GowlingWLG only came on the case in 2016 and have negotiated a fee of $55 million [and an additional $7 million] for themselves. [This class action is a cash cow for GowlingWLG.]

OUR GREAT WHITE AUNTIE, CAROLYN BENNETT, ORDERS, “SHUT UP & LISTEN TO ME!”

In one day a lawyer makes almost the amount we will get in this settlement, $10,000. When I asked if their client was me or the government, they never spoke to me again. Canada and the Prime Minister have admitted guilt, liability, responsibility and accountability. Why is Canada not subject to punitive damages for its criminal wrong doing? 

There is no guarantee that the victims will ever see any of the Legacy Funds of $200 million. Furthermore, the $10,000 compensation will be distributed through the Canadian government band councils and institutions, who are paid agents of Canada and who I never supported. There is no assurance that I will ever be compensated. Our funds should be given directly to us, no middle men.

Ironically, we will be paid out of taxation and our own trust funds for Canada’s systemic and routine brutality.
