50 YEARS SINCE CORNWALL BRIDGE BLOCKADE

MNN. Oct. 21, 2018. For over 50 years this National Film Board documentary film was seen by millions of people around the world. Participants regularly get comments on the blockade of the International Bridge at Akwessne. It is one of the most important milestones in which natives made a definite statement to the world and governments that we have special rights and that the Canada-U.S border does not exist for natives people. The Jay Treaty of 1794 was for the intruders only. The treaty between the British and Americans has withstood many legal challenges by governments in the United States and Canada. It affirms our natural rights as the original peoples of turtle island. 

It is an international treaty between foreign nations with a provision [Article III] respecting our natural freedom and right to live freely on our land where creation placed us without any hindrance. 

All natives benefitted from this action by kanionkehaka/Mohawks who stood at the Customs House on that cold day on December 20, 1968. 

The rotinoshonni’onwe Iroquois have a long history of making such statements to the world. Annually in Niagara Falls the natives have marched across the Niagara River since the 1920s to remind them of our free passage and their borders do not apply to us.

Another history making event was when Paul K. Diabo of kahnawake, an ironworker, was ordered by the American government to be deported to Canada as an alien. The Supreme Court of the United States upheld the rights of natives to cross freely between Canada and the United States without hindrance or molestation. 

In 1968 the world saw a small group of Mohawks and other natives make a declaration that we are not going to allow anyone to interfere with our natural rights.  

This commemoration at Concordia University is a significant event. Everyone is welcome.

MNN. JUNE 10, 2018. Kahnawake Survival School students and community members stopped the survey for a 47,000 square foot multi-purpose building in the old grove forest adjacent to their school. It’s on busy risky highway 138 for a reason. Once marijuana is legal in Canada, this plot of land is close to the border of the community and the main highway to New York City. A dream distribution center for drugs. The band council has probably already given out the licence. President Trump plans to block all drugs going into the US.

The students blocked the multi million dollar survey. At the same time, on June 4 Monday, kaientaa escorted off the technicians who were clearing the site. Tuesday, several dozen community members and students joined him. [Contact kaientaa, 514-608-9925, KC-1976@hotmail.com].

Ironworkers going to the US will be stopped and investigated every time they cross to go to work. The kids want to survive, not be pushed into drug addiction and death.

The project committee argued that this project would enhance our culture!!

The band council has already licensed Playground Poker and Poker Palace for a three year exclusive pilot project. 

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake Inc. continues its evil example for our youth bringing addictions right at our doorstep. On June 4 at a hospital fund raising 4 two older cigaret barons got into a big fracas. It seems like an internal fight over who’s going to control the drugs and the slot machines.  Attending the party were band councillors, cops and gambling millionaires. One baron walked over and tipped the other’s table dumping his meal all over him. He jumped up, and with a left hook knocked the other one out cold. A band councillor jumped in. Then another guy jumped on him. The band councillor almost threw him out through the smashed window.  The party was a ‘hit’ that set an example on how our young people should get ahead using violence!

Our young people are raped and killed. Our children are kidnapped and thrown in the prisons.

Treaties are nothing. They are not our protection. The invaders sued for treaties for their own protection. They came to us, tewatatawi, for the right to stay on turtle island. Duncan Campbell Scott said in his ‘100 year plan’ that in the 9th decade the Indians will voluntarily pay taxes!

MNN. May 2, 2018. The crashers of the Assembly of First Nations AFN private party at the casino in Hull was a corporate meeting. At the front sat the main shareholders and microphones on the floor for a few predetermined questions from sell-out chiefs.

Most attendees were prancing around like peacocks, in gangsta’ garb. Black pants and shirts with gold chains around their necks, diamond and gold rings on their fingers and sparkly bracelets on their arms and hanging from their noses and ears.  They were plucked and primmed for the big show.

Joe Norton of the Indian Act Mohawk Council of Kahnawake Inc. announced he will continue to defy the Montreal courts’ decision on violating human rights. The government and AFN are setting up private corporations in the middle of our communities to be controlled by a few sell-outs in partnership with private miltitias.  

We have to keep on drinking sewage so our skin can stay raw and our bodies remain sick. We will be watched and laughed at.  

Cariboo will be protected, pipelines, dams and garbage will litter our mother. We can’t hunt to eat, no place to plant food we can eat or shit on our polluted land.  

We are the sovereigns. Not one inch of turtle island can be expropriated by anyone. Our mother, trees, animals, waters, air and the people have to be free. We must go back to the day before first contact so we can have unmolested enjoyment as the original people forever on the land.
