MNN. June 27, 2013. Our spirituality is based on giving greetings and thanks to the system that makes life on Mother Earth possible. Our people always had natural economics, all coming from the land, water and air. We first need nourishment to sustain ourselves. Our people were hunters, fishermen, trappers, gatherers and farmers. We always had a predictable steady supply of food. Then we could conduct other matters. Our ceremonies are based on this natural economy.

Today it is impractical. The animals have been slaughtered. Our lands have been divided up and polluted. Plants, medicines and trees have been sickened since the coming of the Europeans to our shores. Many of the fish cannot be eaten because they are poisonous. 

Genetically modified organisms GMO is an organism whose genetic material has been altered. Through modern biotechnology plants and animals can be changed through insertion and deletion of genes. Genes are being inserted from another species, supposedly to repel infections, grow larger more quickly, change color, or whatever. This looks like the beginning of genetically modified human organism to replace the natural people. No one can confirm the long term damage altering nature. Our Mother Earth will clean it all up!

To weaken us, we have been made dependent on the European people for modified food, artificial support and life-ways. To strengthen our bodies and minds we have to relearn how to provide for our people in the normal natural way. Creation gave us a mind to think so we can survive.

Hydroponics is the growing of food with water without use of soil, developed by the Aztecs 2,500 years ago. One acre of land can grow 400 acres of food, using green houses and the power of the sun, without pests, insects or genetic modification.  

Technology can produce foods which do not conflict with our principles, culture or traditions. If we can survive to the 21st Century, we can become one with our land and all our relations again.  

Economics is important. Let us be thankful for what has been given to us and ask for nothing. With the good memories that our ancestors passed down to us, we can help ourselves, our children and unborn generations. United we are powerful.

ELSIPOGTOG RESISTING FRACKING

MNN. June 26, 2013. Tensions are rising at the Highway 126 anti-fracking camp near Elsipogtog First Nation in Kent County, New Brunswick (Wabanakik). By June 23, on National Aboriginal Day, twenty-nine had been arrested. One is in hospital. 

NB FRACKINGWarrior Chief John Levi is calling supporters to help resist seismic testing by US corporation, Southwestern Energy (SWN), and the provincial government. Their bosses are the bankers who own the corporations of Canada and the US. 

The Mi’kmaq, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy, Acadian and other Indigenous peoples of Wabanakik refuse to give their consent. Aggressive RCMP and SWN private security forces are protecting the testing and stirring up confrontations. Protesters are threatened by undercover RCMP who steal SIM cards from cell phones and physically assault elders. 

FRACK ARTResistance continues. Peaceful roadside pickets, blocking trucks and surrounding SWN vehicles are underway. Arrestee Gilogoetj Dedam explained: “They’re destroying our land … If we got off that road, those trucks will drive right by”. 

The cops are becoming more violent, shoving, denying water and bathroom access and tightening handcuffs to cause blood stoppage and bruising. 

A sacred fire, a line of open tents, a communal kitchen, gathering space, singing and drumming creates an inviting environment for supporters and visitors.

MNN: SMALL CONDOLENCE

MNN. June 25, 2013. Indigenous people can be manipulated in front of their peers by ridicule. It activates the  fight or flight syndrome. In native culture everyone is equal and we each have our own individual strengths. We use this for the good of the people. Disrespect of one is a threat to the rest of the group. Those who conserve the integrity of the group survive. Those who do not are ostracized. anxiety stress

A public insult can cause someone to become so angry that they go blank and react instantly. They can strike or leave to avoid a confrontation. It looks completely irrational. 

Those usurping our rights take advantage of this phenomenon. A strong adversarial atmosphere is created. Insults are hurled to upset and confuse the target. The youth are inexperienced in dealing with such indignities in front of our people. Some can break down or react sharply and swiftly. The attacker gains power by getting others to publicly attack their enemies.

They sometimes say something degrading to their victim like, “You are the most horrible Indian on the face of the earth”. This is an incredible violation by an older person who wants to destroy a young Indigenous person. 

Our people developed a way of dealing with this phenomenon. At a meeting, especially over a contentious issue, we do a “Small Condolence” ceremony. Because we are aware of our volatility, ground rules are set down which we all follow to resolve an issue. 

A piece of soft doeskin wipes the eyes of each person so they may see issues clearly; an eagle feather wipes around the ears so they may listen and hear what is being said; and a glass of clear water is drunk so their words will be as clear as the water, without sharp edges.

The higher our Indigenous students go academically and competitively, the more pressure they face. They will find themselves in situations of hostility, aggression, being yelled at, insulted and treated unfairly. Today they cannot respond as normal warriors to fight back or leave the situation. MNN. June 24, 2013. Why did Kanienkehaka/Mohawk power break down? Our men were weakened by the deliberate social and political breakdown, alcoholism, war, poor physical and mental health, teachings of pacifism, movement restrictions, loss of lands and economic rights. Traditionally Haudenosaunee women speak out and question everything.  We are the inherent holders of the land for the coming generations. We create peace by regulating war. None can be called until the women try three times to achieve a peaceful solution. We appoint the warriors, define the conflict and negotiate peace. When the newcomers realized that Haudenosaunee chiefs acted on the recommendations of the women based on the consensus of the people, they set out to break these power bonds. A policy was developed to deal with men only on land, political and trade issues.

The tie to the earth is through the women. The men protect these connections. The strong female role as the foundation of Haudenosaunee society was uprooted. The male dominated hierarchical system took its toll on all the people. The invaders are educated to not hear or see us. European men felt uneasy about dealing with women, especially in relation to land and resource holdings. Indigenous female power bonds were a major obstacle. The matrilocal communal land holding system was targeted for destruction. To oppress our women is to oppress all of us. The “She No Speak” colonial system is rigid, punitive, demeaning and self-deprecating towards women. We are not supposed to question male authority. 

Europeans broke the women’ power through non-native religious influence and the Indian Act and Federal Indian Law passed by the colonists. These violations of the rule of law forced us in a subservient position to our men in our relations with the colonists. The major underpinnings of Kanienkehaka sovereignty were undermined.

The greedy band and tribal councils and their accomplices are a major part of the corporate grid to steal our resources and funds and undermine our nations. They create and pit factions against each other, stir up conflicts, confusion and make unilateral decisions from which there is no appeal. We are not told or misinformed about what’s going on. Non-native outside business interests are brought in to stand behind willing community members to compromise and abuse our sovereignty. Their crimes and misconduct are overlooked as long as they faithfully bow before their puppet master. Bribery makes them susceptible to blackmail and extortion. The corporate media could bring charges or to public light if necessary. When these lackeys get away with abuse, the message is that it’s okay to be cruel. When one does something wrong, it becomes easier to do another wrong. The humane behavior of honest people is constantly undermined. By not stopping these corporate Injun concentration camp wardens from violating us, the decline of our nation’s moral values and ethical standards will continue.

Do they aspire to our third world living conditions? Being denied a voice? Losing their land to theft and pollution? Police harassment, racial profiling or sleazy sexual innuendos? Existential angst because their family missed out on the horrific residential school death camps? 

Philip J. Deloria thinks they are seeking a connection with the primal purity they think we know. “Indians are associated with the land, nature, reality and authenticity. Indians posses the ultimate meanings and truths on what America is about”.

Just saying you’re Indian won’t let you live on a reservation or open a casino. The BIA in the US and Indian Affairs in Canada decide who is an Indian. In Canada any woman who married an Indian man could become a full-fledged Indian with all the rights and benefits. But not the other way around. Band and tribal registries are inflated with names of strangers who get benefits on the basis of some vague genealogical link. 

The “crying Indian” in the 1970s was fake. Ad Men decided Italian, Oscar de Corti, was more Indian than an Indian! 

Grey Owl told the public everything they wanted to hear. Real Indigenous like Tecumseh and Deskaheh are ignored. Brooke Edwards called herself “Medicine Eagle” and ran fake Indian culture camps in Montana for $1500 for two week sessions. Cultists, con artists, hucksters, charlatans and plastic medicine people grow rich while real Indians starve to death. 

A “Rent an Indian” ad appeared on the net: “Are you embarrassed by the lack of racial diversity at your social events? Just rent an Indian and you too can look multi-cultural to your friends”, without giving up your white privilege!

Janet McCloud said that even Indians sell our ceremonies for a fee. They spend 15 minutes with an elder and become official Indian representatives. Fake chiefs have signed away our land in fake treaties. Some create new tribes composed mostly of Euroamericans. 

The late Russell Means went to a school Halloween party with his son. He painted his face white and dressed up like a “white man”. The Indians laughed. The others were embarrassed and confused.  It’s a search for roots by a rootless people. It feeds on a 500-year old guilt complex.

BUMS RUSH

MNN. Jun 15, 2013. We are the biggest contributors in history. Our real estate, Great Turtle Island, has been illegally put up by foreigners for the largest economy in the world! The crooks are rushing to eject us from our land to try to squeeze the last bit of our rights and ever growing $305 trillion Indian Trust Fund. They will get the bums rush. The rest will follow the white roots and take shelter under the tree. Everybody will be equal, have a voice and be of one mind with us.

We’re supposed to change their sheets, empty their potties, wipe their bums, feed them, etc. but not respected as the true landlords. We are supposed to serve, bow and scrape to them. That’s ending fast!

There will soon be a shortage of young people to fill vacant positions in the public sector, services, manufacturing, etc. We will take the jobs and complain about the violations of our sovereignty, theft of our funds, lands and resources. PRISM is the US National Security Agency program that gathers billions of private data on everyone in the world. In Canada it’s CSEC Communications Security Establishment Canada. It has a $400 million budget and 2000 employees.

Credit card companies and internet service such as Micosoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube and Apple give the government direct access to data.  People can now be totally monitored. The information is stored away by the military. 

CSIS and RCMP have been spying since the establishment of both agencies. In 1997 the Federal Court dismissed an application by CSIS to target a general class of persons at its discretion. New ways were created to get around privacy laws. The US PRISM program passes their info through the Canadian internet. When it goes back the US takes Canadian info with it. And vice versa. The “Five Eyes ECHELON’ is a global network to intercept private and commercial communications in US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Bilderberg Association is a registered UK charity that takes “donations” from BP, Goldman Sachs and other multinational corporations. They plan to control the world, i.e. (the price of oil for everyone, who is the next victim in the war program, etc.).  Attending are the IMF, European Commission officials, a dozen other heads of corporate states, transnational CEOs, international bank bosses, corporate media owners, BP, Google and Amazon. Media is invited so they will not report on anything they are doing. UN institutions like the World Bank, World Trade Organization and politicians from the US, Canada, the UK and the EU are always there.

The Kaia’nere:kowa, Great Law of Peace, is the constitution of the Haudenosaunee ratified by the people, based on equality and everyone having a voice. It is the natural law of Onowaregeh, Great Turtle Island. Corporations set up by the European bloodlines to control the globe have stolen our power. Those who break natural law must be punished.
